Kalaburagi, May 30: The Regional Commissioner of Kalaburagi division Subhod Yadav on Thursday said that the water released from the Almatti reservoir to meet water requirements drought hit Hyderabad-Karnataka Region including Kalaburagi, Raichur and Yadgir districts that faced a severe water crisis in the recent past has reached their destination storage points and there will be no dearth of water for people and livestock of the area.
In a statement on Thursday, he said that One Tmc ft of water, against the demand for 1.25 Tmc ft, was released from the Almatti to different water storage facilities in Kalaburagi, Yadgir and Raichur districts.
The statement said that the Bhima River has dried up and the water level in the Basvasagar Reservoir had reached dead storage. The water from Almatti Reservoir first released to Basavasagar Reservoir and then it will be diverted to branch canals of respective Districts.
