‘We are being neglected’: Cong workers pour out their woes before U T Khader

Hassan, Feb 26: Congress workers in JD(S) bastion Hassan have complained to Urban Development Minister U T Khader that they have been neglected by the coalition government.

No officer listened to party workers, despite the party being the partner in the coalition government, they said.

The Minister was in Hassan to hold a meeting with the public regarding Hassan Urban Development Authority’s projects.

Prior to holding the meeting, he visited the DCC office.

The workers gathered to greet the Minister started to raise their complaints. DCC vice-president Narayana Gowda alleged that Public Works Minister H.D.Revanna had “taken the district administration under his control,” though the coalition government was in power.

There was none to listen to the problems faced by the Congress workers. They were not invited for any government programme, he said.

Mr. Khader said he would convey the opinions of the local workers to senior leaders of the party and would speak to coordination committee chairman Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara.

Brahmavar, Jul 3: Two friends drowned accidentally in a rivulet while catching fish near Barkur in Brahmavar taluk of Udupi district today.  

The deceased have been identified as Karthik (20), a final year B.Com student, and Harsha (26), who was working as a recovery agent for a local finance company. Both were local residents. 

The incident took place around 8 a.m. when they were trying to catch fish. Even though a few locals were there on the spot they could not save the duo as the water level has increased in the rivulet due to rains. After an hour the bodies were fished out. 

A case was registered at Brahmavar police station and investigations are on.

Mangaluru, May 15: In a shocking development, five residents of Udupi district, who recently came from United Arab Emirates today tested positive for covid-19.

As many as 49 passengers among over 175 repatriates who were brought from Dubai to Mangaluru International Airport on May 12 were from Udupi district.

Hence they were quarantined in Udupi district and their throat swabs were sent for testing on the same day. Today, five of them obtained positive report. They were today shifted to TMA Pai covid-hospital from their hotel rooms.

Kannur, Mar 29: A non-resident Keralite (NRK)

under home quarantine here since he returned from Sharjah recently died on Sunday, officials said.

According to health authorities, Abdul Khader (65), a resident of Kannariparamba, was kept under home quarantine after he returned from abroad on March 21.

Police said the man had no symptoms of coronavirus but was under isolation as per Covid-19 protocol for persons returning from abroad and other states.

"The relatives of the deceased took him to hospital after seeing him unconscious in his room. However he died before reaching the hospital," police said.

Quoting medical college authorities, the Mayyil police said he died of cardiac arrest.

However, the health officials said they will test his blood sample to ascertain whether he was affected with novel coronavirus.

The body has been kept at the Kannur medical college and will be handed over to his kin only if the result of his blood test is negative, sources said.
