While many Indian women have taken conspicuous leadership positions in professional and public life, many more spend their days behind household walls. Even those who have set foot forward realizing their lights and recognizing their status, face new challenges of Indian society which is in the process of modernizing itself.

A panel of judges including leading writer Licy Kuriakose, Krishna Das and Anwar Shaji evaluated the entries and selected Sylvana Musthafa as winner.
