What after Ramadan? IMA-Kuwait hosts introspection programme at Salmiya

Kuwait: Indian Muslim Association (IMA), Kuwait, in coordination with ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Masjid Al-Kabir has organized an event ‘What after Ramadan’ recently at Salmiya Indian Model School.

Guest speaker of the day Dr Zia Ahmed, speaking on the topic “Wealth Management from Islamic perspective” said, Muslims are supposed to have surplus wealth to be strong. Surplus wealth can only be obtained through higher income because of hard work. Wealth should be used in co-operative way through helping one another in the form of Zakat, Fitr and volunteer social service activities, which will benefit the whole humanity.

Dr.Zia also emphasized the importance of having Retirement planning; he said Retirement planning is one of the significant parts in the financial planning process. It will create a significant source of income during the retirement period; he said Retirement plan has two important process, first Setting of Retirement Plan Goals and second Obtain Necessary Financial Information to Determine Retirement Needs.

Further, he highlighted the various option available for Muslims to investsuch asTakaful (Life Assurance) or Employees Provident Fund (EPF), which will act as vehicle of income stream. He said, one could invest on Real Estate, Islamic Securities (Sukuk), Halal Stocks Shariah Index. While concluding his speech he highlighted on the serious consequence of Interest Based transactions and the way to avoid any dealing with business, which has Interest involved in it.

The keynote speaker of the day Sharafuddin B.S, IMA outreach Coordinator, speaking on ‘What After Ramadan?’ emphasized that it’s very important to keep the spirit of Ramadan all through the year.

He said that it can be achieved by some of the practices like getting up for Tahajjud, late night prayer whenever possible which will help believers to attain status of glory. Caring for the regular practice of fajr, dawn prayer as prophet (pbuh) said there is barakah or abundance when you start your day in the dawn and Being a generous person in actions, behavior and spending. He further stressed that most important thing is to strengthen relationship with Quran through regular efforts of understanding and practicing and trying to implement the teaching of Quran in our personal and social life, as the Ramadan is month of Quran. He said we should continue doing charity work all through the year by giving Zakat, Fitr and volunteer social service activities.

At the end of the program, both speakers received various Questions from audience. Guests from Ministry of Awqaf and Isalmic Affairs - Masjid Al-Kabir Mr. Muhammad Ali and IMA President Masood Shahab were present during the event. Yusuf.Chorghay convened the program that started with the recitation of Qur’an by Master Abdurahman. Bashar khan gave vote of thanks.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.

Riyadh: On the occasion of 71st Republic Day of India, Karavali Welfare Association Riyadh (KWAR) conducted BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN on the 17th Jan 2020 at KING SAUD Universities King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh. 

This is one of KWARs Prestigious Humanitarian EVENT every year, as we are indebted to serve the society for a Great Cause.

The campaign began at 08:30 am with a theme of Republic Day Celebrations and went on till 3:30 pm. Irrespective of Friday being a weekend and holiday people came in good numbers to donate Blood. The Hospital Staff, The Doctors and the Blood Bank Technicians and others at King Khalid University Hospital were more than happy to serve all those who have participated in this campaign.

KWAR Thanks all the Hospital Staff especially Mr. Salman Baqsh for his introduction of KWAR to Blood Bank and all the arrangements for this campaign, without his support this could not been done. Dr. Zafar Mahmoud for his wonderful support during the campaign and Mr. Abdullah Al Saman for his outstanding Hospitality throughout the campaign. KWAR also thanks all the donors who came all the way voluntarily for this Great Humanitarian Cause. As a token of gesture KWAR awarded Certificate of Appreciation to all the participants.

And KWAR would like to thank specially Mr. Nasir, Representative of Blood Helpline Karnataka, who encouraged many donors and made them to actively participate and donate blood for this noble cause.

KWAR’s core activities was on display on the screen, with most of the Committee members were present at the venue to serve the donors. KWAR thanks all the members, the Executive committee and all those who took their valuable time to organize this event successfully and thank all our well-wishers who supported us for the BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN. We in KWAR wish every Donor and the participants a healthy life ahead, and we need everyone's active participation in all our Future events.

Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Chaiman Dr Sam Pitroda held video conference with senior IOC office bearers across Middle Eastern countries on 14th April 2020 to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among Indians residing in the region. Almost all speakers appreciated the efforts initiated and  implemented by  respective governments to contain spread of the deadly virus as well as measures taken towards welfare of the people affected by the lockdown. 

IOC Presidents, Mohammed Mansour - Bahrain, Abdullah Manjeri - Saudi Arabia, Dr J Ratan kunar - Oman and Girish kumar - Qatar, highlighted the quality treatment of patients and finacial aid provided by governments and other authorities. Bahrain IOC president Mansour , also  apprised about the 'Food for Needy' drive in Association with KHK Heroes foundation, initiated by HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and quality treatments as well as financial aid to local and expat residents.

Anura Mathai, IOC  Global Event Coordinator, spoke about certain problems of Indians in the UAE. IOC Middle East Convener, Mansoor Palloor, emphasised and requested IOC Chairman to urge Indian government to arrange immediate repatriation of indians stranded in Gulf countries. AICC Secretary, Himanshu Vyas, IOC Secretary Dr Arathi Krishna, Dr Arshi Malik (Abha), Mohiuddin Sirajudeen (Jeddah), Advocate Joseph Palathara (Dammam) Prasad Kodru, Jayati Maitra Ziyad Ahmed (Qatar) and Khursheed Alam (Gen Secretary- Bahrain) also apprised the participants about various issues relevant to the pandemic and suggested further initiatives to be undertaken. 

Dr Sam Pitroda briefed about sustained and consolidated efforts by all IOC members  during this unprecedented situation facing the world and assured that he would convey IOC  concerns to the government and try his best to ensure all possible help is made available to all needy Indians.
