When Karnataka suffering from flood BSY govt focusing on phone tapping: Deve Gowda

Bengaluru, Aug 19: JDS chief HD Deve Gowda on Monday hit out at BS Yediyurappa-led Karnataka government for focussing on the phone-tapping case at a time when the people in the state were facing the wrath of the deluge.

Former Karnataka chief minister, Deve Gowda's comments came a day after Yediyurappa announced that the phone tapping case filed during the previous government-led HD Kumaraswamy, will be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as many leaders have demanded a probe into the matter.

"I have been the prime minister. I have never seen politics like this. People of flood-affected Karnataka are suffering and the state government wants to talk about the phone-tapping case," Deve Gowda said during a press conference here.

"Setting all responsibilities aside, they are debating on the phone-tapping case in Karnataka. Let us move forward. Lakhs of people have been affected by the floods in the state. The focus should be on helping them and not playing blame games. Stop this game of mud throwing," the former prime minister said.

The allegations of illegal phone tapping against HD Kumaraswamy initially stormed in after rebel JD(S) and Congress MLAs, who were later disqualified from their respective parties, claimed that the former chief minister got their phones tapped.

Reportedly, former state president of JD(S), AH Vishwanath, who was also among the dissenters, alleged that around 300 personal phones of leaders, including senior Congress leader S Siddaramiah, were tapped by Kumaraswamy.

However, Kumaraswamy has denied all the allegations and said that he was ready to face any investigation into the alleged phone tapping case.

Muslim Committee drops Jan 4 anti-CAA protest plan as cops refuse permission

Mangaluru, Jan 2: The Muslim Central Committee of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi has dropped its plan to stage a massive protest against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act and National Register of Citizens on January 4 at Mangaluru’s Nehru Maidan.

Addressing a press conference here today, committee chief K S Mohammed Masood made this announcement.

“All the 28 organisations that had decided to stage protest under the leadership of the Muslim Central Committee, have unanimously agreed to temporarily cancel the protest plan after the city police refused permission for the event,” he said.

Mr Masood requested the people, especially the youth, not to lose patience. “No one should head to Nehru Maidan on January 4 as Muslim leaders have unanimously decided to cancel the protest,” he urged.

S M Rasheed Haji, Y Abdulla Kunhi, Umar UH, Ibrahim Kodichal, B M Mumtaz Ali, Khasim H K, Mansoor Ahmed Azad and Asif Deals were present in the press meet.

Are u planning to approach the court for gaining the permission from the police, bcoz otherwise I don't think we will get the permission

Secondly, a few days back I wanted to contact Muslim central committee office to confirm if the protest Wil be there. I googled for the no, but the no. did not exist. Does that mean the Muslim central committee does not have an office or telephone no????

This only shows how organised we are.

Requesting Muslim central committee to get their house in order. Get more professional. Also consult people to utilise various platform to responsibly collect funds from so many ordinary bearys who want to donate money, but don't know whom to send it to.

We need an action committee to handle such situations. It must consist a battery of lawyers to fight the cases filed by the police.

If our leaders are old, they need to groom new leaders into the committee.

Moreover, it is important to question these so called leaders about their fecilitation program conducted for making kateel wen he won the election. Wat was the purpose of such fecilitation. Becoz I don't think he gives a damn when our community suffered. I question, whether all this is done in our name only to gain your contact and flourish ur business???

Karnataka govt ups its surveillance, containment measure against spread of coronavirus

Bengaluru, Mar 15: The Karnataka government on Saturday issued a statement saying that surveillance and containment measures against the spread of coronavirus have been increased in the state.

"In the wake of coronavirus scare, 104 Arogya Sahayavani (call centre) has reserved 20 lines for receiving calls for COVID-19," read the statement.

It also read that the dedicated seating at the 104 call centre has been increased to 40 and one person form 108 call centre will be responsible for coordinating with the ambulance services.

The statement also read that the government had arranged an orientation for the medical college staff to train them to deal with coronavirus patients.

While six people from the state were reported positive of coronavirus, the Union Ministry of Health, one amongst them was a 76-year-old man from the Kalaburagi region and he died due to co-morbidity.

The state Health Department Commissioner has said that the Telangana government has been notified about the man's death as he was also admitted to a hospital there.

So far, 84 people have been infected with COVID-19 in India.

Total positive COVID-19 cases in Karnataka stand at 181

Bengaluru, Apr 8: Till date 181 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in Karnataka including five deaths and 28 discharges, said State Government on Wednesday.

Six new positive cases have been reported from April 7, 5:00 PM to April 8, 12:00 noon, informed Karnataka Government in a bulletin.

Out of the six fresh cases one has been reported from Uttarakannada, two from Kalburgi, one from Mandya, one from Chikkaballapur and one from BBMP Bengaluru.

"In view of breaking the chain and containment of COVID-19, Karnataka State Board of Auqaf, Bengaluru has directed to all the managements not to allow any congregational prayers in the Masajid and the managements of the Qabrasthans (Muslim graveyards) / Darghas throughout the state and to suspend the visit of public on the occasion of SHAB-EBARAT on thursday, April 9," said State Government in its bulletin.

No public shall be allowed to perform religious rituals in the Qabrasthans/Darghas and all the gates of Qabrasthans/Darghas shall be kept closed.

All managements of Qabrasthans/Darghas shall take necessary action on the above directions and all Waqf officers, District Waqf Advisory Committee in state shall adhere to the orders and directed to circulate the same and to ensure the order is followed scrupulously, the State Government added.

India's tally of positive COVID-19 cases stands at 5,194, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday.

Out of the 5194 cases, 4,643 are reported to be active while 401 people have recovered or have been discharged and one has migrated. The death toll stands at 149.
