‘While RSS, BJP talking about changing Constitution, PM implementing their hidden agenda’

Bengaluru, Apr 1: Alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going before the people seeking votes banking on the emotional issues, former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah predicted that the united Opposition front will come to power after the General Elections.

Speaking at Meet-the-Press organised by the Press Club Bengaluru here on Monday, the Congress leader charged that "in the last five years the NDA government at the Center has failed to deliver and keep up promises made before coming to power in 2014."

Charging that Modi government failed to generate job opportunities, Small and Medium Industries facing threat of extinction, he said that "A serious attempts were made to derail several constitutional institutions, including that of Election Commission of India, RBI and CBI".

While the RSS and BJP leaders are talking about changing the Indian Constitution, the Prime Minister was doing his best to implement their hidden agenda, the Congress leader said.

Maintaining that people of the country will reject the divisive forces and the agenda of the NDA government and that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that "there is no Modi wave in any part of the country and non-BJP parties will assume power at the Center after the elections. Narendra Modil will not become Prime Minister again," he added.

Pooh Poohing the Prime Minister's assertion that he is the Chowkidar of the Country, he said that "Modi, had not made anything which had brighten the future of the poor, downtrodden and vulnerable sections in the society. Rather than Chowkidar of the nation, Prime minister is working as servant of Adani and Ambanis," he added.

Referring to the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in the State, the former Chief Minister said that "the coalition government will continue and complete its five-year term in Karnataka".

While accepting that the kind of synergy which is being witnessed at the top level leaders of the Congress and the JD(S) is not seen at the grassroot level, he said that "It will take some time and gradually all the misconception and hesitation among the rank and file of the both the parties will disappear."

He also expressed confidence that the Congress-JD(S) combine will win majority of the Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka.

Mangaluru, Jan 8: The Muslim Central Committee of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, has finally received green signal from the city police to hold an awareness meet against CAA, NRC and NPR on January 15, but on the outskirts of the city.

The Committee, which is a kind of umbrella body of Muslim organisations of the two coastal districts, had twice cancelled its planned protest against the same at Nehru Maidan, in the heart of the city due to permission denial by the city police. 

Addressing a press conference here today, Committee chairman, KS Mohammed Masood said that event will be held at Shaha Garden near Central Juma Masjid at Adyar Kannur.

He said that the representatives from the 28 different organisations unanimously finalised the date and venue after a consultations as the police refused to grant permission to hold the event at Nehru Maidan or Town Hall.

Representatives of various organisations including S M Rasheed Haji, Ibrahim Kodichal, B M Mumtaz Ali, Rafeeuddin Kudroli and Abdul Rasheed Zaini were present at the press meet.

Mangaluru, Jan 24: Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh on Friday said that a specialised task force to manage natural disasters would soon be constituted in all talukas of the Dakshina Kannada district, an official statement said here.

She further said in a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority that during the floods last monsoon there was a shortage of boats to rescue stranded residents from flood-hit areas. Hence, more boats would be procured for the Home Guards and the Fire and Emergency Services.

She also instructed officials to make sure that schools have their own disaster management plans and also advised them to carry emergency materials kit, used during a natural disaster, in their vehicles.

Bengaluru, Mar 12: Days after a video of an elephant being shot in Bandipur National Park went viral on social media, officials said that they have removed a staffer and initiated action against an employee of the Karnataka Forest Department in the matter.

According to officials, the incident took place on March 7.

"We have removed Rahim, temporary staffer, and initiated action against Umesh, a permanent employee of the Karnataka Forest Department, after an internal enquiry," Bandipur field director T Balchandra said.

While Rahim is said to have shot the charging elephant, Umesh reportedly made the video and shared it on social media.
