Mangaluru, Nov 30: Accusing the police department of exhibiting anti-Muslim bias, Popular Front of India has questioned the credibility of the lists of most wanted criminals prepared by police in Mangaluru and other parts of Dakshina Kannada district as they contain maximumMuslim' names.

The grave allegation was made by a speaker at a protest meet organised by the PFI in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner, here on Wednesday, to exert pressure on the government to nab the “masterminds” behind the murder of Mustafa Kavoor in Mysuru jail and provide Rs 50 lakh compensation to his kin.

Mustafa's brother Thwaha Ibrahim and a few relatives also attended the protest meet. As the number of agitators began to mount a mild tension prevailed in the area. However, the police managed to bring the situation under control.

Addressing the protesters Ilyas Mohammed Thumbay, National General Secretary of SDPI, said that the police department has failed to be impartial while dealing with criminals.

“They have released the lists of most wanted criminals that contain only Muslim names. For them, miscreants and anti-social elements belonging to Sangh Parivar are not most wanted criminals,” he complained and questioning why do the names of Sangh Parivar leaders like Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and Jagadish Karanth never appear on the lists of most wanted criminals in spite of the fact that such speakers played major role in creating communal unrest in the coastal Karnataka.

He said that even though Mustafa was murdered by a criminal called Kiran Shetty inside the prison, the conspiracy was hatched by Sangh Parivar leaders. Recalling the veiled threats issued by Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell against the accused in Moodbidri Prashant Poojary murder case, Mr Thumbey said that the probe into Mustafa murder case will not be completed until the police arrest Mr Pumpwell.

Farooq, Mysuru district president of PFI, went on to claim that Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha's hand in the murder case cannot be ruled out as the latter had paid many visits to the prison before Mustafa was hacked to death on November 10.

Shafi Bellare, Karnataka State secretary of PFI also spoke and demanded the government to give justice to the family of Mustafa. Haneef Katipalla, DK district president of PFI welcomed. Shareef proposed vote of thanks while Ashraf AK Moideen compered.

All the attacks that cheddis do is like COWARDS...
They either attack from behind or with deception...

Anyway We MuSlims believe in the day of JUDGEMENT where CRIMINALS will not escape in court of the CREATOR who give LIFE and DEATH> No cheddis can play their game of deception on that day.

Mangaluru, Jul 24: Parents in Dakshina Kannada are urging the educational institutions to reduce fees at least by 75% as most of the infrastructure and resources are not being utilized due to online classes.

“School campuses are now closed. Why we have to pay such a heavy fee when our children are not availing the facilities offered on campus?” asks a Sapna (name changed), a parent, whose two daughters study at a prestigious private school in Mangaluru.

Even though some schools considered as small players have reduced fees, most of the “prestigious” institutions in the Mangaluru have so far refused to give any discount.

“Apart from paying school fees, now we have to invest in gadgets, internet connections and accessories required for online classes. School administration can use their infrastructure and facilities for other purposes as students are not utilizing them. Hence, they must give us maximum discount during this pandemic,” said another parent.

On the other hand, many parents are facing a dire financial situation due to covid-19 lockdown – while some have suffered losses in their business some have lost their jobs.

Many parents have even approached the education department to ensure that they get a discount in fees from educational institutions, said Dakshina Kannada DDPI Malleswamy.

“We cannot do anything since a government circular has asked educational institutions not to hike fees, which they have not done, and reduce fees if possible, which will never happen. The department is acting against only those schools that forcefully collect fees,” the DDPI said.

Panaji, Feb 6: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday told the Legislative Assembly that neighbouring Karnataka has diverted the Mahadayi river water, due to which its flow in the state has taken a hit.

He was speaking during a debate on the motion of thanks to Governor Satya Pal Malik for his address.

Goa and Karnataka are locked in a dispute over sharing of the Mahadayi river water. Goa is strongly opposing the Kalasa Banduri project proposed to be built by Karnataka on the river, which is aimed at providing drinking water to three north Karnataka districts by diverting the Mahadayi water into the Malaprabha river.

Speaking in the House, Sawant said that the flow of Mahadayi river has reduced due to the diversion of water by Karnataka.

"I am admitting that they (Karnataka) have diverted the water. We have brought it to the notice of the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change," he said.

The Goa government has explained to the Centre that the water which flows into the state is "not wasted".

"We have told them that the perennial flow of water is necessary for Goa's wildlife," he said.

Sawant said that his government was serious on the issue of Mahadayi.

"Mahadayi is more than a mother to me. We have not compromised anywhere on the issue. I have been associated with the Mahadayi agitation since 2000," the chief minister said.

He said the issue would be fought before the Supreme Court, where special leave petition has been filed by the state.
