Why world's rich are splurging money on Dubai real estate?

Dubai, Jun 26: The cosmopolitan nature of Dubai coupled with a strong lifestyle consideration is making the emirate an extremely attractive real estate market for the global super rich, according to Wealth-X and Sotheby’s International Realty.

Dubai real estateIn a report, titled, “The Europe, Middle East and Africa luxury residential real estate report 2015”, the companies reveal that the emirate has the potential to become fast-growing ultra high net worth (UHNW) hub in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region in the coming years.

It puts the number of UHNW individuals (those with $30 million or above in assets) in Dubai at 495 with 34 billionaires.

Prices of luxury properties in Dubai are almost 40 per cent cheaper than London with the emirate having 8 percent of luxury residential properties listed above $1 million (Dh3.67 million), it revealing, stating average listed price at $5.5 million, with average price per square foot being $834.

According to the report, Dubai is the modern oasis of extravagant luxury, home to the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, and the only seven star hotel in the world, the Burj Al Arab, and over 300 days of sunshine a year.

“It is a prominent hub for finance, trade and tourism in the Middle East and has rapidly become home to an array of luxury stores, grand hotels and a large array of fine dining and entertainment.

“It has more billionaires than any other city in the Middle East, and the wide range of activities on offer encourages UHNW individuals from all over the world to visit Dubai,” it states.

However, the report says London remains the region's primary real estate hub and offers numerous compelling reasons to be living such has its role as the center of finance, generous tax treatment of non-domiciles, an array of cultural activities and world-class educational institutions for children of UHNW individuals.

Dubai, Apr 14: Saudi Arabia reported 435 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 5369, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday.

According to the ministry of health the number of recoveries today are 84 cases, making total of recoveries in the kingdom 889.

The ministry also confirmed 8 deaths bringing the total number of deaths in the kingdom to 73.

Saudi Arabia imposed a 24-hour curfew and lockdown on the cities of Riyadh, Tabuk, Dammam, Dhahran and Hofuf and throughout the governorates of Jeddah, Taif, Qatif and Khobar. This week the curfew was extended until further notice.

Containment efforts
Saudi authorities are racing to contain an outbreak of coronavirus in the Islamic holy city of Mecca.

The total number of coronavirus cases reported in Mecca, home to 2 million people, reached 1,050 on Monday compared to 1,422 in the capital of Riyadh, a city more than three times the size. Mecca’s large number of undocumented immigrants and cramped housing for migrant workers have made it more difficult to slow the infection rate.

Saudi Arabia has reported one of the lowest rates of infection in the region, with around 5,000 cases in a population of over 30 million.

Riyadh, Jun 22: The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (MMRA) in Saudi Arabia has announced the continuation of the ban on providing Shisha (hubble-bubble), and the closure of children's play areas in restaurants as a precautionary measure for protecting the health of citizens and residents from the novel coronavirus COVID-19 infection.

The new stage, in which the Kingdom is beginning to coexist with the virus, focuses on the concept of "social distancing" that has emerged since the start of the coronavirus crisis throughout the world,

It stipulates leaving at least 2 meters between one person and the other in public places to prevent the transmission of infection, in addition to covering the mouth and nose by wearing a facemask.

It also specifies complying with the preventive protocols in workplaces, stores, shops, mosques and tourist attractions, with human gatherings not to exceed 50 people, as a maximum.

Dubai, Apr 16: Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO), unveiled a series of outdoor ads that form part of its new campaign to encourage the community to stay home.

Featuring the slogan 'For My Sake #StayHome for Us', the campaign depicts stunning artwork developed in collaboration with Emirati artist Maitha Demithan. The ads have been displayed on billboards, lamp posts and digital screens across Dubai.

The campaign reinforces the importance of staying at home in line with the strict restrictions on movement put in place by Dubai's Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management as part of intensified measures to combat Covid-19.

Nehal Badri, Director of Brand Dubai, said: "The outdoor campaign, displayed in prominent locations across Dubai, was designed to illustrate the importance of staying at home during the current sensitive period. Using Maitha Demithan's stunning creative artwork, we sought to send out a clear message to the community that staying at home is vital to safeguard the wellbeing of our loved ones. 

This project is one of a series of initiatives launched in collaboration with UAE-based artists to raise awareness about the need to unite efforts to protect vulnerable people from the risk of infection."

Emirati artist Maitha Demithan said: "It has been a privilege for me to work on this project and an honour to serve my country through my artworks. The three portraits featured in the campaign create a triptych that represents the people who are the most vulnerable to being infected by the virus. During such difficult times, art can play a crucial role in raising awareness on how to stay safe, but most importantly it can keep everyone inspired. I encourage all my fellow artists and the creative community to continue practicing social distancing and stay connected by using their creativity and innovation to raise awareness during this period."

Brand Dubai partnered with several media outlets, including Media 24/7, Arabian Outdoor Media and Hypermedia to launch the outdoor ads. The ads are displayed on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai Marina.
