Will accept SC verdict in Ayodhya case; peace must be maintained: Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind

New Delhi, Nov 6: Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind president Arshad Madani on Wednesday hoped the Supreme Court verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case will go in their favour but reiterated that even if it didn't, the organisation will accept it graciously.

"Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind had decided to fight a legal battle for the Babri Masjid. We were the first to go to the Supreme Court. We are hopeful that the decision on Ayodhya issue will be in our favour, but I say this again that whatever the verdict might be, we will accept it," said Madani at a press conference here.

Madani also urged all the people irrespective of their religion and age to respect the apex court's decision and maintain peace and harmony in the country.

"We urge all persons -- Hindus, Muslims, youth and as well as the elderly -- to accept the Supreme Court's decisions no matter what it is. And we are not alone in asking for this peace.

Muslim organisations, government, RSS, and Mohan Bhagwatji, all agree to the fact that peace should be maintained in the country," he said.

"Hindu-Muslim unity is the strength of our country. We are striving to maintain that peace since Independence. I met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwatji with the same thought in mind. I am happy that we all agree to the fact that unity should be maintained at all costs in the country," he added.

Last month, the SC reserved its verdict after concluding the arguments in the land dispute case and is likely to pronounce the verdict in the matter before November 17, the day when Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi demits his office.

The CJI held a day-to-day hearing for 40 days on a batch of petitions challenging the Allahabad High Court's order trifurcating the 2.77 acres of the disputed land at Ayodhya into three equal parts to Ram Lalla, Sunni Waqf Board and Nirmohi Akhara.

SSLC exams to be held soon: Karnataka Education Minister

Bengaluru, May 5: Karnataka Education Minister, S Suresh Kumar on Monday announced that the SSLC exams will be held as soon as possible, the officials have been asked to be prepared.

The guidelines have been given by the Primary Education Minister to all Deputy Directors of Education departments.

"Sanitisers, masks, screening, and all guidelines will be followed at exam halls," said Kumar in a statement.

Meanwhile, Karnataka has reported 651 COVID-19 positive cases so far, said State Health Department said on Monday.

Mangaluru, July 31: Coronavirus related deaths in Dakshina Kannada continued to surge, with the district administration recording five more fatalities in a day, thus taking the tally to 155.

The district has recorded multiple deaths every day from July 1 to 31. A majority of the deaths are due to comorbid conditions.

Among the five deaths reported today, a 47-year-old man from Mangaluru, was admitted to private hospital on July 30, and breathed his last on the same day. He was suffering from ARDS, Type 1 respiratory failure, COPD, Type II DM, HTN and died due to cardiac arrest.

Another patient was a 75-year-old man from Bantwal, who was admitted to a private hospital on July 23, and passed away on July 30. He was suffering from acute coronary syndrome, pneumonia (ARDS), metabolic encephalopathy, acute kidney injury, systemic hypertension, and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

The third patient was a 63-year-old man from Mangaluru, who was admitted to a private hospital on July 18, and passed away on July 30. He was suffering from ARDS, septic shock, renal failure, and secondary bacterial infection.

The fourth patient was an 88-year-old woman from Davanagere, who was admitted to a private hospital on July 9, and passed away on July 30. She was suffering from septic shock, and secondary bacterial infection.

The fifth patient was a 75-year-old man from Mangaluru. He was admitted to Wenlock hospital on July 15, and passed away on July 30. He was suffering from refractory ARDS, septic shock, renal failure, acute coronary event, arrhythmias, pulmonary thromboembolism, and hemoperitoneum.

The district administration said that though the above patients contracted coronavirus, the exact cause of their deaths is being investigated by a team of experts and their report is awaited.

On the other hand, Dakshina Kannada district recorded a total of 204 fresh cases, taking the tally to 5,713. Among the 204 new cases are 75 primary contacts, 63 with influenza-like illness (ILI), and 14 with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI). As many as 52 cases are under investigation. As many as 70 patients were discharged on Friday from Wenlock as well as private hospitals.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 40,706 samples have been tested so far and 34,993 out of them have tested negative. Among the 5,713 positive cases reported in the district, only 2,929 are currently active. As many as 2,631 persons have recovered and been discharged.
