Bengaluru, Dec 5: K C Venugopal, the AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, has said that he would retire from politics if charges of his involvement in solar panel scam in Kerala are proven.
Replying to the queries of media persons here on Tuesday, Mr Venugopal said: "The CPM is in power in Kerala and not the Congress. Let there be an investigation into the charges. I am ready to face it."
A judicial commission report on the scam had indicted number of Congress leaders, including Venugopal. Besides, prime accused in the scam case Saritha Nair named Venugopal among others who had sexually assaulted her.
On the charge of sexual assault, the Congress leader reiterated that it is politically motivated. "I have filed a defamation case in this regard...Let the BJP stage a protest," he added.
