Mudigere, Jan 9: The members of Mudigere unit of Bajrang Dal have launched a social media campaign to intimidate Hindu girls against making friendship with Muslim boys in schools and colleges.
The development comes after a female college student belonging to Hindu community committed suicide after being harassed and humiliated by a group of miscreants belonging to Hindutva groups. A BJP activist has already been arrested for abetting suicide.
In its warning message, which has gone viral on WhatsApp and Facebook, Bajrang Dal activists have threatened to thrash the girls if they were found spending time with boys from other religions.
Leaders of the Bajrang Dal defended the message stating that it was being spread to avoid instances of so called ‘Love Jihad.’
Tudukuru Manjunath, Chikkamagaluru district convener of Bajrang Dal told said that the message was intended to protect Hindu girls from falling into ‘Love Jihad’ trap. “Many Hindu girls have become victims of Love Jihad” he claimed.
Our local leaders have circulated the message with the right intention, he said. “If a Hindu girl is seen spending time with a boy from another community, we can’t keep quiet. Do you expect us to call police when someone is being murdered or being raped? We act to save the victims,” he said.
