Belagavi, Dec 17: A woman allegedly murdered her own son and sister-in-law when they came to know of her affair with a man in the village. The woman and her lover have been arrested for the murders that took place in Bellad Bagewaadi village of Hukkeri taluk, Belagavi. The crime came to light on Monday when police arrested the accused on Sunday night.

The deceased are Bhagyashree Karigar, 32, and 10-year-old Praveen.

Accused Sudha Karigar, 30, and Ramesh Bastewadi, 26, were allegedly in a relationship.

Sudha married Suresh Karigar, a farmer, 11 years ago and Praveen was their only child. Sudha befriended Ramesh of the same village and the two were having an affair.

Praveen reportedly caught his mother with Ramesh and threatened to tell his father. Sudha tried her best to cajole her son not to squeal on them. When he did not budge and stood firm, Sudha and Ramesh plotted to kill him, said police.

On October 22, the two convinced Praveen to accompany them to the field. En route to the field, they pushed Praveen into a well. The boy drowned.

Next day, Suresh filed a missing complaint with police.

Bhagyashree, Suresh’s brother’s wife, who was also aware of Sudha’s affair with Ramesh grew suspicious and told Suresh of his wife’s affair.

Suresh warned Sudha and told her to amend her wayward ways. Angered with this, she decided to eliminate Bhagyashree.

On December 8 when no one was at home, Sudha called Ramesh home and the two poured kerosene on Bhagyashree and set her ablaze.

Bhagyashree’s husband Channappa filed a complaint against Sudha and Ramesh.

Police picked up the two on Sunday night for inquiry. During interrogation, Sudha admitted that she and Ramesh had killed Praveen and Bhagyshree fearing that they would reveal her affair to her husband.

A case has been registered at Hukkeri police station.

Bhopal, Mar 7: Independent MLA Surendra Singh Shera on Saturday said that he was not in any kind of captivity in Bengaluru and he will meet Chief Minister Kamal Nath soon.

"I was in Bengaluru for my daughter's medical treatment. I was not in any kind of captivity. I will meet CM Kamal Nath soon," Shera told reporters here upon returning to Bhopal from Bengaluru.

Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh alleged that the BJP had escorted four Madhya Pradesh MLAs, including three from his party, to Bengaluru.

"Last night, two charter planes were booked by BJP to take MLAs to Bengaluru. One was a 9-seater plane while the other was 12-seater. In the 12-seater plane, four MLAs were taken to Bengaluru. Out of them, three Congress MLAs Bisahulal Singh, Raghuraj Kansana and Hardeep Dang and one Independent MLA Surendra Singh Shera," Singh had said.

He has accused BJP of resorting to horse-trading in order to bring down the Kamal Nath government.
