Woman politician’s elderly parents-in-law commit suicide in apartment

Belagavi, Oct 4: The parents-in-law of Renu Suhas Killekar, former deputy mayor of Belagavi City Corporation (BCC), hanged themselves by a single rope in their apartment here on Monday morning.

While Narayan Killedar, 80, was a retired Indian Air Force employee, Vasundhara Killedar, 68, was a homemaker. According to police sources, Vasundhara had been disturbed for the past few months and that may have led the couple to take the extreme step. Khade Bazar police are investigating the cause after Narayan's son Suhas Killekar filed a complaint.

The couple was staying with Suhas son at the apartment on Goodshed Road. The couple locked the room of their son and daughter-in-law from outside and covered the CCTV camera with paper before committing suicide.

The security guard of the apartment saw the bodies hanging and informed the family. Renu Killekar of Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) is a two-time councillor and was a deputy mayor too. She also fought the assembly elections from Belagavi (North) constituency in 2013.

Bidar, Mar 4: The Principal District and Sessions Court in Bidar, on Tuesday, granted conditional bail to five functionaries of Shaheen School management — Abdul Qadeer, Allauddin Pasha, Mehtab Sait, Bilal Inamdar and Abdul Khaleq — who moved anticipatory bail in a sedition case slapped against their school recently.

Conditions

Senior advocate B.T. Venkatesh from Bengaluru argued for the petitioners. Managoli Premavati Mallikarjuna granted bail on certain conditions, including execution of personal bond of ₹2 lakh each.

The sedition case was filed against the Shaheen School management for its children staging a play as part of their annual day celebrations on January 21, in which a character had allegedly delivered a dialogue against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

While Nazbunnisa, the mother of the child who had allegedly delivered the dialogue in the play, and Fareeda Begum, the headmistress of the school, were arrested, they were subsequently released on bail last month.

Bengaluru, Apr 1: The state government has identified five districts, including Dakshina Kannada, as 'cluster zones' or 'Red zones,' to prevent the spread of Novel Coronavirus.

The other four districts include Mysuru, Uttara Kannada, Bengaluru and Chikkaballapur.

Mangaluru has been under strict lockdown, as it is close to Kasargod in Kerala, which reported many positive cases and is also one of the 'hotspots' in the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) list.

Mangaluru, Jul 23: A nurse who was serving as a frontline COVID warrior at the Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru and has recently tested positive along with her 7-year-old son has complained to the Deputy Commissioner against the harassment meted out by some miscreants who have been spreading false rumours against her.

Health official said that some people in her area have given false complaints against her to government officials thus inflicting mental torture on her and her family.

In her letter, the nurse has stated that the attitude of the people forcing her to consider quitting the job. "I have served the people by treating my work as worship. Anti-social elements have been torturing me now. I am very much hurt," the she said. 

The nurse’s house at Moodbidri has been sealed after she was tested positive. However, her husband and younger child were tested negative.
