Woman pours scalding water on hubby for not shaving beard

Lucknow, Jun 2: He had never imagined that his beard, which he had kept owing to his religious beliefs, will one day put his life in danger.beard

In a shocking incident, a woman in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh district, about 400 kilometres from here, allegedly poured scalding water on her husband for not shaving his beard.

The incident occurred at Jamalpur Colony in Quarsi area in the district on Thursday.

The husband, identified as Salman, was admitted to the hospital with severe burn injuries and was stated to be in a critical condition.

According to the police sources, Salman had married Nagma, a resident of Khaidori village in the district, about six months back. Nagma did not want her husband to keep beard and had asked him several times to shave it. Being deeply religious minded Salman had always refused to shave off his beard.

The couple used to often fight over the issue, sources said.

An angry Nagma allegedly poured scalding water on Salman, when he was asleep. As Salman cried in pain, the neighbors rushed there and took him to the hospital. He was later shifted to the Medical College hospital in Aligarh town for treatment. According to the doctors his condition is critical.

A case has been registered at Quarsi police station in this regard, the police said. Nagma is yet to be arrested. ''We are investigating the matter...we will take action if the allegations turn out to be correct,'' said a senior district police official in Aligarh.

Kota (Rajasthan), Jun 6: A 14-year-old boy allegedly hanged himself to death on early Saturday morning shortly after he stopped playing PUBG throughout the night and went to sleep, said police. 

Railway Colony police station’s in-charge Hansraj Meena said the boy, a class 9 student and son of an Army man, was found hanging from the grill of the ventilator in his bedroom on early Saturday morning. 

Meena said according to the boy’s family members, the boy had downloaded the gaming programme on his mother’s mobile phone only three days back but had been playing the game virtually continuously for the last three days. 

He kept on playing the game till 3 am in a room in which his brother was studying, said Meena, adding the boy went to adjoining to sleep after that. His body was found hanging from the ventilator’s grill in the morning, he said, adding the boy was rushed to MBS Hospital, where he was declared “brought dead”. 

No suicide note was recovered in the case, the SHO said. The boy lived in Gandhi Colony in the city along with his mother and brother, while his father, a Tamil Nadu native and Army man, is currently posted in Arunachal Pradesh. The boy’s body has been kept in hospital’s morgue for the postmortem, the SHO said.

Amaravati, Jul 31: Nine people have died after allegedly consuming sanitiser in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh today, the police said.

Prakasam district Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kaushal said the people had been consuming sanitiser for the past few days, mixing it with water and soft drinks.

"We are also investigating whether they laced the sanitiser with any other toxic substances," the official said.

"Their family members say these people have been consuming sanitiser for the past ten days. We are sending the sanitiser stocks, being sold in the area, for examination," he added.

Kurichedu in Prakasam district has been under lockdown due to rise in coronavirus cases and hence, liquor shops have also been shut since the past few days.

Habitual drinkers were said to be consuming sanitisers that have alcohol content, apart from illicitly distilled arrack.

The police said two beggars near a temple were the first to fall victim on Thursday night. While one of them was found dead at the spot, another died in the government hospital in Darsi town, they said.

A third person was also taken to the Darsi hospital late on Thursday night after he fell unconscious but he was declared brought dead. Six others who fell ill after allegedly consuming sanitiser, died this morning.

Others who fell ill after consuming sanitiser are undergoing treatment at their residences in the village, the police added.

Bengaluru, Feb 5: City Crime Branch (CCB) of Bengaluru City have arrested two drug peddlers from Kerala and have seized banned products from their possession.

According to officials the arrested persons have been identified as Shinto Thomas (35) of Wayanad and Tajudden Talat (29) of Thiruvananthapuram.

"We have seized 4 kg 350 grams of Hashish oil, 21.5 kgs of Ganja, Rs. 9300 cash, two mobile phones, two ganja crushing tools, and 625 empty boxes and other articles from them", police said in a statement.
