Won’t expect any position if Modi comes back to power: S M Krishna

Hassan, Apr 7: Echoing BJP senior leader L.K. Advani’s words, former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna said it was unacceptable to call those criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the BJP as anti-nationals.

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, Mr. Krishna said the Constitution had given the right to every individual to express his or her opinion.

“Everybody has a right and we cannot compromise on the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. Nobody should be called anti-national for criticising Modi. He himself would not approve of this,” he said.

Answering a question, Mr. Krishna said he had announced that he would not contest any election.

“I have kept my word. Some people have a different meaning for the word — last election — in their dictionary.” He clarified that he would not accept any position if Mr. Modi came back to power.

Mr. Krishna campaigned for BJP candidate A.Manju at Gandasi in Arasikere taluk, Hagare, and a few other places in Belur taluk.

Bengaluru, Jan 24: Karnataka High Court on Friday ordered notice to the state government and self-styled godman Swami Nithyananda while hearing a petition seeking cancellation of bail granted to him.

A petition was filed in the Karnataka High Court on Friday seeking cancellation of bail granted to Nithyananda for skipping the trial and fleeing the country.

Justice John Michael Cunha, after hearing the complainant, ordered issuance of notice to the state government and Nithyananda and posted the matter for hearing next week.

The petition, filed by K Lenin, alleged that Nithyananda has been skipping trial and has fled the country on an expired passport.

The plea further said that Nithyananda was making false representations in his "exemption petitions to the trial court as if he is still in India".

Interpol has also issued a 'blue corner notice' to locate the self-styled godman, who is facing trial in a criminal case, on the request of Gujarat Police.

Mangaluru, Apr 6: City Police Commissioner Dr P S Harsha has directed coastal security personnel to block the boat service near Talapady after reports of Kasarogod people using boats to cross over to Dakshina Kannada via Talapady river emerged, Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said here on Monday.

Following the rise in Coronavirus cases in the neighbouring Kasargod district, District Commissioner Sindhu Roopesh ordered closure of borders with Kerala and totally suspended vehicular movement, including for medical emergencies.

However, now the people living in Talapady and surrounding areas allege that the government has failed to monitor people using boats to cross over to Dakshina Kannada via Talapady river.

Bengaluru, Feb 17: Karnataka State Government have plans to establish three more ultra Mega Renewable Energy power parks, each of 2500 MW capacity, Karnataka Governor, Vajubhai Wala informed the joint legislative meeting, here on Monday.

Addressing a Joint Legislative meeting here, he said that the proposed Ultra Mega Renewable Energy parks would come up at Koppala, Bidar and Gadaga in the state.
