Work pressure: SBI deputy branch manager commits suicide in Karnataka

Shivamogga , Oct 19: Unable to handle work pressure, the State Bank of India (SBI ) Jog Falls branch Deputy Manager allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his house in Jog town, Sagar taluk of the district on Saturday .

According to the police, the deceased bank manager identified as M Anil Kumar (35), had went to the bank after two days' leave in the morning. After some time, he returned home and took the extreme step after sending his wife to the market to purchase vegetables.

Police suspected that work pressure prompted him to take the extreme step. He had told customers who were in his chamber that he would be back in ten minutes while leaving the bank. The audit of the bank was going on for the past two days , the source said .

Mangaluru, May 27: The Dakshina Kannada PU College Principals' Association on Wednesday appealed to the authorities to postpone the evaluation of PUC II answer scripts, as the Novel Coronavirus was still active and there was all possibility of the infection spreading.

Speaking to reporters here, Association President Umesh Karkera said, ''It is our duty to evaluate the answer scripts. But amid the fear of COVID-19 and lockdown, evaluators are not able to reach the valuation Centre to take up the work.

''The department of pre-university education has asked the Deputy Chief Examiners and the Assistant Examiners to reach the venue on May 27 and 29, respectively, to take up the evaluation work.

Mysuru, Mar 3: Three leopard cubs were rescued by a team of Forest Department in Mysuru on Tuesday.

The cubs were found in a sugarcane field and came into notice of a farmer while cutting the sugarcane.

The villagers alerted the forest department which rescued the three cubs.

Bengaluru, Jan 14: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to the government of Karnataka while hearing the plea for ordering Judicial probe into the December 19, violence and police action in Mangaluru.

On December 19, the local police while taking action against anti-CAA and NRC protesters had fired at them which had killed two citizens. The police action was then followed by curfew in the region for over 48 hours.

The High Court bench hearing the plea of JD(s) leader Iqbal and Sullia Pattan Panchayat member Iqbal seeking its intervention to order judicial probe into the matter has issued the notice to the government.
