Workplace mishap: Indian expat’s body repatriated from UAE to Mangaluru

sathishMangaluru, Jun 13: The mortal remains of an expatriate worker from Talapady in Mangaluru taluk, who died in workplace mishap in Ras al-Khaimah repatriated thanks to the Indian Cultural Society, UAE.

47-year-old Sathish Bhasker Uchil breathed his last on May 16 after battling for life for several days in hospital. He had suffered severe head injury in a mishap at his workplace.

He was working for a marble company for nearly one year. He is survived by his wife and two children.

After his death his dead body was kept in a mortuary for several days in Ras al-Khaimah.

Udupi, Jun 20: The wife and daughter of a 54-year-old man who succumbed to Covid-19, tested positive for the virus on Saturday.

Sources said that the family returned to Udupi on June 18 and the man died the same day while his wife and daughter tested positive today.

The man and his family had arrived at their house in Thekkatte on Thursday, June 18 afternoon. Later in the day, the man died. He was suffering from jaundice and had arrived from Mumbai in the state of illness.

Mangaluru, May 4: District Health Officer Dr Ramachandra Bairi on Monday said that a special team, comprising of six members, has been constituted to find the source of Corona infection in Dakshina Kannada .

The team is expected to file its report by May 6. It is still not clear if Bantwal was the source was the infection or not.

He said 1st phase of investigation in this regard is complete and the samples taken on the 12th day will give a clear picture.

Tumkur, Jan 10: A five-year-old boy has been killed by a leopard in Gubi taluk of Tumkuru district in Karnataka.

The local police said today that the incident took place on Thursday evening when the boy was returning home along with his grandmother.

The leopard first attacked a cow and then the boy who was behind it. The feline dragged the body into the forest.

After a search operation by the forest officials, the body was found and handed over to the parents after post-mortem.
