Shivamogga, Jul 25: The police team investigating the alleged assault and attempt to kidnap on Vinay Bidre, personal assistant of BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa, has named N.R. Santosh, an aide of former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, as the prime accused in the case registered at the Mahalakshmi Layout police station in May this year.

eeshyeddySantosh’s anticipatory bail plea was heard in a sessions court on Monday. Public Prosecutor Nagappa told the court that Santosh appears to be the mastermind and should not be released on bail, said police sources.

Meanwhile, investigators are searching for a CD that the suspects mentioned, added police sources.

All the arrested persons — Prashanth, Kishore, Selvam, Aiyappa, Aravind — and Rajendra Urs, a suspect who secured bail recently, claimed they were working on the instructions of Santosh, the sources said.

The police have been searching for Santosh. On July 15 midnight, a team visited Yeddyurappa's house looking for Santosh, but could not find him.

Mangaluru, Jan 13: Supporting former state chief minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy who released a "CD on the December 19 Mangaluru violence", Dakshina Kannada party unit president Mohammed Kunhi on Monday demanded a probe into the violence.

Mr Kumaraswamy, who released 35 video clips related to the violence, had demanded the suspension of the Police Commissioner and also sought a house committee to probe the incident.

Addressing media personnel here, Kunhi questioned, "If the police department did not commit any mistake why is the state government looking worried about the CDs released by Kumaraswamy?"
