Bengaluru, Feb 24: Opposition leader in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly B S Yeddyurappa, who is also BJP State President, blamed the State government for the fire mishap in which about 300 cars and several two wheelers were gutted during the Aero Show at Yelahanka Air base, on Saturday.
Addressing newsmen here on Sunday, the senior BJP leader expressed anguish on the incident and said that the State Police department had not taken any precautionary measures before giving permission to park large number of vehicles during the event.
"The Karnataka Home Minister M B Patil, instead of owning the onus on the part of the state police on the mishap, had tried to blame the Military authorities.
"It was the responsibility of the state police to decide where the parking of vehicles should be allowed after visiting the area. If the State government had taken necessary precautionary measures such incident could have been avoided." he added.
