Yediyurappa doesn't have people's trust: Congress after floor test

Bengaluru, Jul 29: After Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa won the vote of confidence, Karnataka Congress on Monday took an aim at the BJP leader claiming that he does not have people's trust in the state.

"Shri @BSYBJP has never become @CMofKarnataka through People's Mandate. Everytime, his expertise in Horse Trading and Resort Politics have made him Chief Minister. Operation Kamala may have won him the Trust Vote today, but he doesn't have the Trust of the people of Karnataka," the party tweeted.

The Karnataka government headed by Yediyurappa sailed through the confidence motion that was held through a voice vote in the state Assembly.

Moving the trust vote, Yediyurappa promised not to indulge in vindictive politics and said he believes in "forget and forgive."

After winning the floor test, the Chief Minister reiterated that will ensure "transparent and accountable governance".

"Winning the trust vote is, taking one more step closer towards a stable and strong administration. Will uphold the trust by ensuring transparent and accountable governance. I would like to thank the citizens, MLAs and each and every BJP Karyakartha for the trust placed in me," Yediyurappa tweeted.

The veteran BJP leader was sworn-in as the 25th chief minister of Karnataka on July 26, following the collapse of the Congress-JD(S) government after it lost the confidence motion last week.

Mangaluru, Jun 13: A bus agent died after the compound wall of his house collapsed on him at Matadagudde, near Gurupura-Kaikamba, on Friday afternoon. This is the first rain-related death reported in Dakshina Kannada.

The victim is Narayana Naika, 52. According to police, heavy rain on Friday afternoon blocked a small water stream adjacent to his compound wall, and the deceased was clearing it. The stone compound wall then suddenly collapsed on him, and he got buried underneath. He sustained grievous head injuries and died on the way to hospital.

Narayana is survived by his wife and two children.

Dakshina Kannada received an average rainfall of 26.1mm in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Friday. The highest rainfall was recorded at Puttur and Mangaluru taluks at 31.3mm and 30.3mm, respectively. Bantwal and Sullia taluks received 26.3mm and 24.6mm of rain, respectively.

Mangaluru, Feb 7: In an attempt to promote menstrual hygiene among women, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has installed vending machines and incinerators to dispense and dispose off sanitary napkins at 10 bus stands of the state including Mangaluru.

The machines have been installed inside the women's washroom and women can purchase sanitary napkins from the vending machines by inserting five rupee coins.

Nearly 100 napkins can be stored in the vending machines at a time and housekeeping personnel have been instructed to replenish the stock, as and when required.

While directions on how to use the machine have been displayed near the machines, people can get seek assistance from housekeeping staff if needed.

Initially, the machines were installed at two depots in Bengaluru on a pilot basis and in the second phase it has been extended to 10 KSRTC bus depots.

This new feature activates refunds and credits the customer's source account across payment methods such as credit card, net banking, and UPI within a minute of initiation.
