Yenepoya University VC delivers lecture on ‘Robotics Surgery’ in Gulf Medical University

Ajman, Oct 22: Dr. M. Vijaya Kumar, the Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya University, Mangaluru, visited Gulf Medical University (GMU) – Ajman, the leading medical university in the Middle East region, on 22nd October 2019.

He was received at the University by Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Vice Chancellor – Academics, GMU. The vision, mission and future strategic directions of Gulf Medical University were presented before Dr. M. Vijaya Kumar.

Later, Dr. M. Vijaya Kumar toured the state-of-the-art facilities for medical education, healthcare and research at Thumbay Medicity, including the Gulf Medical University, Thumbay University Hospital, Thumbay Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Hospital and Thumbay Dental Hospital.

He met Dr. Thumbay Moideen – Founder President of Thumbay Group. He commended Thumbay Group for the outstanding facilities at Thumbay Medicity, especially the three cutting-edge academic hospitals, all part of the Gulf Medical University Academic Health System, a one-of-its-kind academic health system in the region’s private sector.

Later at GMU, Dr. M. Vijaya Kumar delivered a guest lecture on ‘Updates on Robotic Surgery’, detailing the techniques and benchmarks of the fast-growing field of robotic surgery. He was presented by a memento by GMU, as a mark of gratitude for his enlightening lecture.

Hassan, May 8: A newly married couple accidentally fell into the Hemavathi river and drowned while clicking selfies near Henneli village in the district, police said on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Kritika (23) of the same village and Artheesh (27) of Belur taluk in the district.

They got married on March 20. Both were working in Bengaluru and were in the village due to the lockdown.

Bengaluru, Apr 16: Special Investigating Team (SIT), headed by Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Sandeep Patil, subjected former underworld don turned social activist Muthappa Rai in connection with gangster and underworld don Ravi Poojary's criminal cases.

Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) said that the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Venugopal and police inspector Bulletin have questioned Rai in his house for more than two hours about Ravi Poojary case.

Muthappa Rai was allegedly one of the accused in builder Subbaraju murder case. They both were allegedly close in the initial days and they were like a team, said a senior officer. So Rai was questioned about their connection. Rai, who reformed himself many years ago, is into business and social service at present.

Udupi, May 19: Within minutes after health and family welfare department announced four fresh covid-19 cases in Udupi district, a girl who had come from central part of Karnataka tested positive for the coronavirus thereby taking the count of cases detected after last evening to five. 

With this the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in the district rose to 16. Three among them have recovered. One patient died last week. There are 12 active cases. 

According to sources, the 17-year-old girl from Chitradurga had visited KMC hospital in Manipal for cancer treatment on May 16. 

Her throat swabs were sent for corona testing on the following day. Today she obtained a positive report. Hence, she was shifted to Dr TMA Pai Covid hospital.
