Yesudas celebrates 73rd birthday in Kollur

January 11, 2013

Kollur, Jan 11: Singer K.J. Yesudas celebrated his 73rd birthday on Thursday by offering prayers at Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple.

Mr. Yesudas with wife Prabha and singer son Vijay Yesudas reached the temple late on Wednesday and gave special offerings to the deity.

A concert led by popular musician Kanhangad Ramachadran was held near the Saraswati Mandapam on Thursday morning. Mr. Yesudas rendered a few devotional songs on the occasion.

It has been his custom for over a decade now to celebrate the birthday at the temple. Anticipating his visit, hundreds of his fans and music lovers had reached the temple.

Seeing a large number of parents waiting impatiently to get their children initiated into the world of letters by him, the veteran singer urged them to get the services of the priests for such ceremonies as they are regarded as the mediators between the worshipped and the worshipper.

Later, Mr. Yesudas with family and close associates had the birthday feast at the residence of temple priest K.N. Govinda Adiga and left the temple town in the afternoon.
