Bengaluru, May 18: Even as the Bharatiya Janata Party has continued its efforts to poach MLAs from opposition parties, the Congress on Friday released an audio clip where mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy is heard offering money to the Congress's MLA from Raichur Rural.

Reddy is also heard offering the MLA, Basanagouda Daddal, a berth in the council of ministers.

The offer, according to Reddy, has BJP president Amit Shah's approval. Daddal defeated the BJP's Tipparaju by 9964 votes in the May 12 polls.

Transcript of the call

Male voice: Janardhan sahebru will speak to you if you are free.

Basanagouda: Give. Give.

Janardhan: Basanagouda...are you free?

Basanagouda: Yes, I’m free sir...

Don’t remember all the bad things that happened in the past. I am telling you in the middle of the night that good times have started for me. I’m telling you directly. The big man, the national president will himself speak to you. Whatever you want, whatever post, you can talk one-to-one and we take a step forward.

Basanagouda: It won’t happen, sir...When I was on my last legs, they helped me when I was really down...

Janardhan: I have only one point to tell you. During the BSR time, it was a very bad time for me where there was a very hostile environment. We have all lost a lot, there are no two words on that. You will grow a 100 times if you listen to me. You know Shivanagouda Naik, he listened to me and became a minister. Hasn’t he become strong now as an MLA and a man who can stand on his own feet?  Didn’t all of it happen because of me? What about Raju Gouda? Didn’t he become, because of me? Your tragedy, in our bad time, you and we didn’t match. But today, Shivanagouda Naik, even if he wins, it is of no use. You will become a minister. Do you understand? I will make you sit with the big man, one to one and I will myself make sure both of you talk. This country, the way they are giving the administration, you are seeing it. Whatever assets you have, you will get 100 times more, Basanagouda.

Basanagouda: Sorry sir. When I was on my last legs, they gave me the ticket, these leaders. In this situation, I can’t betray them. I have respect and affection for you...

The audio clip ends.

Meanwhile, BJP reacted to the latest developments and denounced the audio clip released by Congress by dubbing it 'fake'.

Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar called the release of the audio clip as the 'handiwork of Congress' dirty tricks department' while speaking to ANI.

Hope Congress has planted some moles, who agree to BJP offers. That way BJP may not try to influence more.

Bengaluru, Aug 6: No private hospital in Karnataka can turn away a patient without attending to him or her, irrespective of the Coronavirus status, an official has said.

"Private medical establishments shall not deny treatment and admission to any patient approaching the establishment irrespective of the fact that such patient may or may not be suffering from Covid-19," an official from the state Health and Family Welfare Department said on Wednesday.

Likewise, no private hospital can insist on a patient for a Covid-19 test report, said the official invoking the Disaster Management Act.

"The establishments also cannot insist for Covid test report," he said, directing all private hospitals to strictly abide by their responsibilities.

According to the department, it is the duty of every private hospital to provide first aid and take lifesaving steps when any patient approaches it.

"It is the duty of every private medical establishment to provide first aid and take lifesaving measures to stabilise the patient," he said.

The department also invoked statutes from Karnataka Medical Establishments Act 2017, under sections 11 and 11 (A) to drive home the message.

The directives assume significance at a time when several cases of private hospitals denying admissions and fleecing patients across the state have emerged.

"It has been noticed that some of the private hospitals are refusing treatment and admission to emergency patients, causing distress and this has resulted in complications, leading to death in certain cases," said the official.

The district authorities have been directed to take action on the erring hospitals as the department reiterated the responsibilities of private medical establishments.

New Delhi, Feb 4: "I own my statement," said BJP lawmaker Anant kumar Hedge on Tuesday amid the raging controversy over his remark on Mahatma Gandhi while adding that he has never said anything against the Father of the Nation.

"All related media reports are false. I never said what is being debated over. It is an unnecessary controversy. I own my statement made on February 1, 2020, in Bengaluru. I never made any reference to any political party or Mahatma Gandhi or anybody else, I was just trying to categorise freedom struggle. That's all," Hedge told news agency.

"I am surprised by the discussion around it. What can I say about something that is not there? There is hullabaloo going on without anything. My statement is available in public forum. If anyone wants to see, it is available online and on my website. Show me if I have said anything against Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru and any other freedom fighters," he added.

The BJP leader continued: "That programme was about Savarkar. With due respect of all our freedom fighters, I was just discussing our freedom struggle, there is no confusion or any derogatory comment on freedom struggle or fighters. Unnecessary nuisance has been created."

Hedge stoked a controversy after he had attacked Mahatma Gandhi by calling the freedom struggle led by him a "drama" and also questioned as to how "such people" come to be called 'Mahatma' in India.

"None of these so-called leaders was beaten up by the cops even once. Their independence movement was a big drama. It was staged by these leaders with the approval of the British. It was not a genuine fight. It was an adjustment freedom struggle," he had said.

While several Congress leaders have condemned his remark on the father of the nation, BJP leaders too has distanced themselves from it.

Top leadership in BJP is unhappy with Anantkumar Hegde over his controversial remark on Mahatma Gandhi, party sources had said on Monday, adding that he has been asked to issue an unconditional apology.
