Mangaluru, Mar 25: A youth was was killed after being knocked down by a train near Thokkottu on the outskirts of the city on Friday.
The decease has been identified as Avil Roshan D'Souza (32), a resident of Kolya village near here.
It is learnt that the youth was walking on the tracks at Kapikad near Thokkottu when the tragedy took place.
A case has been registered. Authorities are likely quiz the motorman of the train to establish the sequence of events leading to the youth's death.

As per a report in Zoom, the actor was rushed to the KIMS Hospital in Bengaluru after he suddenly collapsed at his home.

Besides being an impeccable actor, especially his perfect comic timings, Michael was also passionate about dancing and was huge fan of Michael Jackson. This was one of the major reasons why he added Michael to his name. He had entered the film industry with an aim to become a popular choreographer, but destiny had something else in store for him. Michael Madhu is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Fans of Michael Madhu have been sharing condolences on social media ever since the news of his death hit the internet. As per a report in media, the actor’s last rites will take place today.
Mangaluru, Apr 22: A team of officials raided the Big Bags International Pvt Ltd premises here on Tuesday following the apprehensions expressed by locals that the company has violated lockdown rules by resuming operations on April 20.
On Monday several workers of the firm from Kerala, Tumakuru and Bengaluru were reported to be at the premises to resume operations.
The raiding team asked the management to temporarily shut down operations and asked the workers to leave the place.
Bengaluru, Jan 5: Rural development and panchayat raj minister K S Eshwarappa has received two threatening calls from Tamil Nadu, according to Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He said that he had instructed the police to provide adequate security.
At 12.30 pm on Friday, an unidentified person made a phone call. Speaking in Tamil, he threatened Eshwarappa with life, it is said.
Eshwarappa is known for abusive remarks and issuing threats to non-Hindus.
