21st Gulf Incon-Metabo floodlit cricket tournament from June 18 to July 6

Doha: The Gulf Incon has signed a sponsorship agreement for their annual prestigious floodlit cricket tournament.

Gulf Incon has the distinction of sponsoring floodlit cricket for the 21st consecutive year. Adnan Al Mannai, Managing Director, General Manager Srinivasan Vaidyanathan, Metabo Regional Manager (Dubai), Marcel Cenia, Sajjad Ahmed Khan, Sales Manager- Tools & Equipment and Qatar Veterans’ League Committee members were present at the signing ceremony.
Mr. Adnan praised the organizers of the tournament and confirmed his full support for the same. Mr. Marcel Cenia expressed his confidence that as usual the tournament will be played in the best of sporting spirits and wished good luck to all participants.

Top two teams from each Pool qualify for the quarter-finals. The tournament will be starting on Thursday, the 18th June 2015, and finals are scheduled for Monday, the 6th July 2015. The tournament is being conducted at the Old Ideal Indian School grounds near Midmac Roundabout. The matches of 12 overs duration will start at 9.00 p.m. Two matches are scheduled each night.

Dubai, Aug 7: ‘Nama Tuluve’ Purushotham Salian, a staunch stalwart who always supported humanity and a strong pillar for Tuluvas in Dubai, passed away August, 4 at Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain. He was suffering from cancer and was admitted to Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain some time ago. He was on the last stage of illness which was not detected earlier.

His funeral last rites were conducted on Thursday August 7 at Jebel Ali cemetery in Hindu rites with a few of his family members present. Due to Covid pandemic, neither his body was able to be flown back to hometown nor could his two children come down to attend the funeral. However, it was said that his wish was to be cremated here in Dubai which unknowingly sometime back he whispered to one of his friends.

Purushotham had few years ago, survived a heart attack and fought back his life, though it had a minor paralytic effect on him. Even though, till recently he used to do his day-to-day work normally. He was a hard working personality and owned a readymade garment shop in Ajman and Dubai mostly taking care of clients with requirement of uniforms and coveralls. His dedication towards work was always appreciated by his clients who used to get their things delivered on time always.

He was never a publicity person and was helping the poor and needy in whatever ways he could silently. He strongly supported the community and was associated with Nama Tuluveru and Billawa community with commitment. He used to voluntarily come forward for the ground work of various functions of the community and used to be there until it was done perfectly.

Markaz Al Madeena Association, Eastern province, conducted JALS-E-UCHILA get together program at Dammam, Saudi Arabia on March 5,2020 on account of celebrating 28 years of social service dedicated by the organization.

The event chairman Noushad Uchil inaugurated the function. The organization president presided the program and delivered talk about the intention of the organization. Hashim Uchil has intorduced the social and academic contribution of the organization of past 28 years. Jamal Uchil welcomed the gathering and Ismail G.I. host the program.

Games, Quiz and prize distribution to the winners and senior social workers was the special attraction of the event. The planning committee of the event includes Iqbal, Farooq, Shahul Hameed, Ramza, Nabeel, Afthar, Ashraf and Shafi.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.
