Bengaluru, Dec 26: A 25-year-old youth on morning walk was trampled to death by a wild elephant near Torebekuppe village of Kanakapura taluk, Ramanagar district in the wee hours of Wednesday, triggering a protest by locals who blocked Kodihalli Main Road.
The deceased has been identified as Chetan, son of Hombalegowda, priest of Kabbalamma temple in Torebekuppe village.
Chetan and his three friends had gone out for a walk with torches along Kodihalli Main Road around 5.30am on Wednesday. When they reached Ankachari Doddi, a wild tusker ravaging the ragi crop in an adjoining field attacked them. While the others escaped, Chethan was trampled to death.
As the news spread, villagers blocked the main road and staged a ‘rasta-roko’ with the body of the deceased.
