April 22, 2016

Kochi, Apr 22: Chiku, 28, a Malayali nurse working in Badar Al Samaa hospital at Salalah, Oman, for the past three years, was stabbed to death by an unknown assailant in a suspected case of attempted robbery.

OmanChiku, married to Linson Thomas, also working as a male nurse in the same hospital, failed to turn up for work at around 11 pm local time. Mr Thomas, who was on duty at the hospital, went to their apartment and found her dead with grievous injuries. T.I. Varghese, a close relative of the family, told this newspaper that the woman was suspected to be hacked with a sharp edged weapon.

“Relatives of Mr Thomas working in Oman have gone to Salalah and we are waiting for information from them. We are utterly shocked by the incident,” he said.

The body of Chiku is likely to be flown in to Kerala on Sunday or Monday, Mr Varghese said. Chiku was three months pregnant, according to her relatives.

Chiku is the eldest daughter of the Robert-Saby couple. Her younger sister is a student of D.Pharm course in a college in Cherthala.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday said an Indian national working as a nurse in Oman was murdered and has asked the Indian Ambassador there for a report on the matter.

it is clear that the baby was targeted, otherwise there was no need to stab a woman with so many stabs if the reason was only ROBBERY. i trust our dear HM that he will find out the monster, this cannot be an act of a human being. THE EYES OF GOD THE ALMIGHTY OVERLOOKS EACH AND EVERY CREATION OF HIS AND THE CULPRIT WILL NOT ESCAPE THE WRATH OF GOD.
As a mother of 9 year old baby which my GOD blessed me after much trials for 6 years, i only ask \why\""

DEAR JINU

Either YOU are ignorant of GOD or U are a fool to believe such a way.
God created all that exists in this EARTH and he has proportioned everything. Humans are one of the intelligent creation of ALLAH and as we advance technologically.. Human moral are decreasing and they rely on the advancement of technology. Mobile are good but when people use for BAD it is affecting the society. Everywhere U see evil, we need to stop it rather than ignoring.
When EVIL increases WE should voice out ... which we dont see now a days... it is our job too to voice out the EVIL done in our society.
God is most merciful, the culprit may escape cos of a merciful now , but his life will not get contentment in this world unless he asks forgiveness with the victim & with the creator who gave the LIFE to all.. There is a day when everything thing will be judged in front of THE CREATOR.
He gave us LIFE and he is the one who takes LIFE. Had U ever look what GOD says in his message .. if not please lOOK QURAN and find out what he says in QURAN on the PURPOSE of LIFE, Good and EVIL and HEAVEN and HELL>

First know WHO is ALLAH and then learn more about his messenger like Prophet Muhammd pbuh, jesus, moses, ibrahim, noah and many other... Who conveyed What is LIFE and what is our duties.

Bengaluru, May 25: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday greeted the Muslim brethren on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, which is being celebrated in a subdued manner due to coronavirus related restrictions.

"Warm greetings of Eid-ul-Fitr. May this festival of peace and harmony bring happiness in life," Yediyurappa said in his message.

He congratulated the Muslim fraternity for cooperating with the authorities by offering prayers at home during the holy month of Ramadan and supporting the government to contain COVID-19.

"I hope the same trend will continue during the festivities of Eid-ul-Fitr too. I thank you all for your support in the fight against COVID-19," he said.

The Eid festivities were a low-key affair as Muslim brethren celebrated the festival indoors in view of lockdown to contain coronavirus on Monday.

People offered the special prayers inside their houses instead of performing it in mosques and Eidgah, the open field to perform prayers, and refrained from going out to greet each other.

As the Karnataka government has ordered Sunday Curfew throughout the lockdown-4 till May 31, the otherwise bustling markets in the urban areas of Karnataka remained shut.

People could not venture out to make necessary purchases on Sunday.

The Jama Masjid of Bengaluru at the City Market had asked the Muslims to offer prayers inside their houses and not go to the burial grounds to express their sentiments for the departed souls.

"Mass prayers are not allowed anywhere in Karnataka. Just five important persons managing the mosques offered the prayers. Similarly, people go to the graveyard to pray for the dead ones but this time we asked people to express their sentiments from inside their homes instead of going to the burial grounds," Maulana Maqsood Imran, the Khateeb-O-Imam, Jama Masjid, Bengaluru, told news agency.

He said, "coronavirus is spreading very rapidly in our country. If we don't follow the guidelines, it will not only cause trouble to us but also to the doctors and the government. It will be the biggest celebration if we abide by the norms."

The Karnataka BJP, which faced action on Twitter earlier this month over incendiary tweets, this time has passed the blame of Sangh Parivar sponsored Delhi violence to the victims.

In an insensitive tweet on Friday, it dubbed the protests against the notorious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as "fake" and added that the violence that followed was "the most well-planned assault on the Idea of India," in an apparent attempt to portray the victims as villains.

The handle, notorious for tweets targeting Muslims, blamed the clashes that erupted in Delhi between people demonstrating for and against the CAA on "so called 'Peacefuls'" - a known right-wing slur for Muslims.

Many people on social media called out the tweet for misleading people and covering up the role of Delhi BJP leader Kapil Mishra's provocative speech for triggering the violence or the failure of the Delhi Police, which reports to the former BJP chief and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in controlling the riots.

Earlier this month, the Karnataka BJP had tweeted a video of Muslim women standing in queue to vote in the Delhi elections, showing their voter ID cards, with the snarky caption: "Keep the documents safe, you will need to show them again during NPR (National Population Register) exercise."

Soon after, the party unit's Twitter handle was blocked by the social media platform for 24 hours after many accused it of encouraging Islamophobia.

NPR has been widely criticised by opposition parties as a precursor to the government's planned NRC or National Register of Citizens which intends to make Indians prove their citizenship with documents that many poor or illiterate do not possess.

Many fear that combined with the already imposed CAA - which promises citizenship to only non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh - the NRC can be used to make millions of Muslims stateless.

The government has denied the allegation and said the CAA only intends to help those who have faced religious persecution. In recent weeks, it has gone back on its rhetoric on the NRC which was announced by Amit Shah in parliament as "it will certainly happen".

The CAA, which was cleared by parliament in December, has triggered deadly protests in the country which left at least 25 dead till Sunday. Since then, at least 42 more people have been killed as large-scale violence erupted in northeast Delhi and hundreds of homes and shops have been burned to the ground.
