300,000 illegal expats deported from Saudi in 5 months

Riyadh, Mar 23: Recent statistics released by the Ministry of Interior have revealed that nearly 300,000 violators of the Kingdom’s labor and residency regulations have been deported during the past five months.

“An average of 2,000 illegal expats are sent out of the Kingdom every day,” the ministry said as Saudi authorities continued their campaign throughout the country to flush out violators.

The information showed that Border Guard patrols arrested 900,000 infiltrators who tried to enter the Kingdom illegally, with 84 percent of them coming through the southern borders. There are currently 15,769 violators in shelters awaiting completion of deportation procedures.

During the past two weeks security officers and Labor Ministry officials conducted coordinated raids in different parts of Tabuk and netted more than 1,500 illegals.

Lt. Col. Khaled Al-Ghabban, spokesman of Tabuk police, said security officers have been deployed in different parts of the region, including the main streets, to check documents of expats.

“During the past month, we have arrested 2,750 violators. We also targeted employers who provide jobs to illegals violating laws,” he said, adding that police would not show any leniency toward illegals.

Gen. Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, spokesman of Border Guards, said his officers are more than ready to face intruders.

Iraq’s deputy parliament speaker Hassan Karim al-Kaabi on Saturday described the move as provocative and in violation of international law.

Kaabi also called on the Iraqi government to take swift measures to halt such actions.

The Embassy’s move to fire in a residential area in the heart of Baghdad is an unacceptable act and another challenge for the Arab country, adding to the mass of its provocations and illegal actions in Iraq, he noted.

According to Iraqi media, the US tested a patriot missile system inside Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone.

Anti-US sentiments have been running high in Iraq since Washington assassinated top Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani and the second-in-command of the Iraqi popular mobilization units, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, in January.

Following the attack, Iraqi lawmakers unanimously approved a bill on January 5, demanding the withdrawal of all foreign troops.

Baghdad and Washington are currently in talks over the withdrawal of American troops. Iraqi resistance groups have vowed to take up arms against US forces if Washington fails to comply with the parliamentary order.

Dubai, Jul 31: The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia tweeted early on Friday sending congratulations to everyone on Eid Al Adha.

"I congratulate everyone on the blessed Eid Al Adha. May Allah [grant us another Eid where we will be in] good, blessings, health, and wellness," King Salman said.

"We also ask [God] to accept the pilgrimage of those who completed Haj, and [to accept] Muslims' prayers, and to remove the coronavirus pandemic in our countries," he added.

King Salman left King Faisal hospital in Riyadh after recovering on Thursday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.

Dubai, Apr 26: Saudi Arabia reported 1223 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 17522, the Ministry of Health announced on Sunday (April 26).

Meanwhile, the ministry reported 142 recoveries today, with total recoveries in the kingdom at 2357. There are 115 cases in intensive care.

The ministry also confirmed 3 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths in the kingdom to 139.

Saudi King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz has ordered the partial lifting of a curfew imposed due to the new coronavirus across the country while keeping a 24-hour lockdown in the holy city of Mecca, the Saudi news agency SPA reported Sunday. The partial lifting of the restriction started Sunday from 9am until 5pm and will continue until May 14, the agency added.
