6 polling booths reserved for tribals in Mysuru-Kodagu

Mysuru, Apr 3: After a big success of Tribal booths in the 2018 Karnataka Assembly elections, the District administration has decided to double the number and set up six Polling booths specially to attract Triabal voters in Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency where Polling will be held in the First phase on April 18.

Last year, three booths had been set up which was well received by the Adivasi voters and consequently the poll percentage in those booths had seen considerable rise, thanks to enthusiastic voting by the inhabitants of tribal settlements.

The booths had been identified based on the population of Tribals living in the vicinity. And the initiative is to bring them to the polling booths and participate actively in the “Festival of Democracy”.

Belagavi, Jan 16: Six Poachers were arrested in two different cases at Gollahalli forest range in Kittur section in the district on Thursday.

The arrested were identified as Bharmesh alias Bharmappa Hanumant Bhajantri, Mallesh Hanumant Bhajantri residents of Budanakatti in Bailahongal Taluk.

Another alleged accused Yuvraj Basappa Bhajantri managed to escape.

Kalaburagi, Jul 2: Hoteliers in Kalaburagi have claimed that their business is hit due to night curfew timings in the state.

The night curfew in the state has been imposed from 8 pm to 5 am.

Speaking to news agency, Sudarshan, a hotelier said, "Peak business hour is 7-10 pm but now we close by 8 pm. There is almost no business. We are unable to pay our workers. The government should think about it".

"We haven't received any benefit from the government so far. If we are in trouble how will we help our workers? Relaxation should be given," he added.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government on Tuesday announced a complete lockdown on Sundays till August 2.

So far, Karnataka has reported 15,242 COVID-19 cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Bengaluru, April 3: Central Crime Branch (CCB) Bengaluru has arrested two persons for allegedly possessing illicit liquor.

The probe team also allegedly seized bottles worth Rs 1.25 lakhs from their possession on Thursday.

A case has been registered against the accused and investigation into the matter is underway, Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police informed news agency.

More details in this regard are awaited.
