70,000 jobs awaiting Saudi women in four sectors

Jeddah, Nov 20: Saudi Arabia is planning to open up four major sectors to employ women, a senior official said here on Sunday.

Abdullah Al-Harbi, a senior executive at the Job Creation and Employment Commission (JCEC), said the Commission is planning to integrate women in marketing and advertising which may offer 10,000 jobs by 2030 in addition to 11,000 jobs in accounting, 20,000 in pharmacies and 29,000 jobs in computer programing.

Speaking at the 10th Jeddah Human Resource Forum, Omar Al-Batati, Governor of JCEC, said that the commission works on scientific studies and collaborates with the government and private sectors.

Among its programs is to increase the qualification of high school graduates, offer training to consultants to be able to work on VAT, help graduates diversity their interests and harness their talent to find better job opportunities.

“There are 8 million expatriates in the market and there is a need for 700,000 jobs for locals,” Al-Batati said.

Lama Al-Sulaiman, a board member at Rolaco, suggested that the private sector needs to reduce the number of employees.

This, she said, will help businesses meet the need of the fourth industrial revolution.

Abdullah Dahlan, chairman of the board of University of Business and Technology, said all concerned authorities need to work together in the nationalization of strategic plans.

The 10th Jeddah Human Resources Forum entitled “Transformation to increase productivity”, which started on Sunday, is scheduled to end on Wednesday.

It is being organized under the patronage of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, emir of Makkah region and adviser to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

Abu Dhabi, Apr 21: The UAE has reported a further 490 new coronavirus infections, after conducting more than 30,000 new tests, bringing the total number of COVID-19 patients to 7,755.

According to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), three more coronavirus deaths have been confirmed, taking to 46 the country’s death toll.

The ministry revealed that it conducted more than 30,000 additional COVID-19 tests among UAE citizens and residents, using state-of-the-art technology in line with its plans to intensify virus screening in order to bring COVID-19 under control.

The accelerated investigative measures resulted in the detection of 490 new coronavirus cases among various nationalities, all of whom are in a stable condition and receiving the necessary care.

The deceased are of Asian nationalities and had pre-existing conditions coinciding with being infected with coronavirus, which resulted in complications that led to their death.

The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to all patients, calling on the public to cooperate with health authorities and comply with all precautionary measures, particularly social distancing protocols, to ensure the safety and protection of the public.

The ministry also announced the full recovery of 83 new cases after receiving the necessary treatment, taking to 1443 the total of those now recovered from the virus in the UAE.

Dubai, Apr 10: Saudi Arabia reported 364 new coronavirus cases and three new virus-related deaths, the Ministry of Health announced on Friday.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Kingdom is 3,651, out of which 2,919 are currently active, the ministry added.

Out of the new cases, 90 were recorded in Mecca, 78 in Medina, 69 in Riyadh, and 54 in Jeddah, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, the number of fatalities rose to 47, while th number of recoveries reached 685.

The daily number of confirmed cases in Saudi Arabia has not peaked yet, and has been rapidly accelerating.

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Health had said earlier this week that four different studies showed that the number of coronavirus cases in the Kingdom could reach between 10,000 to 200,000 within weeks.

The ministry spokesman emphasized the urgent need for citizens and residents to remain at home and maintain social distancing practices to ensure that the virus does not spread further.

Riyadh, Apr 25: Saudi Arabia announced nine deaths and 1,197 new cases of the COVID-19 virus on Saturday.

Of these cases, 120 were recorded in Madinah, 364 in Makkah, 271 in Jeddah, 170 in Riyadh and 43 in Dammam.

The number of people who had recovered from the coronavirus in the Kingdom increased to 2,214 after 165 patients were reported to have recovered.

A total of 136 people have died of the disease in the Kingdom so far.
