Makkah, Dec 28: The Makkah fire department received a call early Tuesday evening of a fire blazing in a residential building in the Umrah district.
The fire, which broke in an apartment on the first floor, was contained but resulted in the death of a 9-year-old girl, said Maj. Naif Al-Shareef, spokesperson of Makkah’s Civil Defense.
He added that an investigation into the fire’s cause is ongoing.
Kozhikode, Jul 20: A 17-year old boy died of head injuries while trying to protect his mother from being assaulted by his drunk father here, police said on Sunday.
The youngster suffered the fatal injury after his head hit against the door when his father shoved him at their home on Saturday. Venu, had come home in an inebriated state and picked up a quarrel with his wife and started beating her up, they said.
On seeing this, Alan tried to intervene. Though the boy was rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved, they added. Venu was arrested and a case has been registered.
Nagpur, Apr 5: A 23-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Imambada area in Nagpur on Saturday due to financial distress, police said.
Nikhil Gavhane, who worked in a grocery shop, hanged himself as he had taken money from a person and was stressed over repayment, an official said.
"He was depressed since a week," the Imambada police station official said.
Bengaluru, May 6: Central Crime Branch Police have nabbed 71 people involved in various crimes taking advantage of Lock-down which prevents movement of people in the street and seized stolen properties worth about Rs 1.70 crore, official said on Wednesday.
Police said that in all 56 cases were booked. In all 17,312 duplicate Sanitisers, 2000 lts of Chemicals, 18,750 fake Masks, 270 Thermometers and two cars were seized from the arrested culprits.
During the raid godowns where rice and dal meant for free distribution during lock-down were robbed and stored were also seized.
