Aamir Khan skips son's cricket match for work

Mumbai, May 2: Superstar Aamir Khan skipped a special cricket match today organised by his son Junaid due to some urgent work.

Junaid had organised a fund-raiser Twenty20 celebrity cricket match that was played today at Brabourne Stadium between Bollywood stars and physically-challenged individuals.

Junaid and his college (HR college) club had put up the match together, which was aimed at sending a message that disability was no handicap.

"I had asked dad when he would be free for this match and he gave me the date May 1. But he got some work and hence could not make it here... it's ok," Junaid told PTI.

A star-studded team from Bollywood included Aamir's close friend Salman Khan and his brothers Arbaaz and Sohail, Rani Mukherjee, Esha Kopikkar, Aftab Agnihotri, Prateik Babbar, Atul Kulkarni, TV actors Dilip Joshi and Disha Vakani.

"Aamir has a show coming up...," an ecstatic Salman said hinting that due to Aamir's busy schedule, he could not make it for the match. The show 'Satyameva Jayate', Aamir's debut on TV, will go on air from May 6.

Mumbai, Aug 7: Bhojpuri actress Anupama Pathak has died allegedly by suicide in Dahisar East, her Mumbai residence on August 2.

The police have recovered a suicide note.

Initially, an accidental death case was registered which was later converted into FIR under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of IPC against a person and a company, the police said.

Further investigation by Mumbai's Kashimira Police is underway.

Kochi, Jun 27: The Kerala government on Friday submitted an application in a local court requesting to stop the prosecution of ivory possession case against Malayalam film actor Mohanlal.

In the application for withdrawal of prosecution, the government has requested the court to stop the prosecution "immediately for the interest of justice".

''The legality of the possession of two elephant tusks by Mohanlal was accepted by the competent authority under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 by issuing him a certificate of ownership. The possession and custody of the elephant tusks thus become legal after the Chief Wildlife Warden (CWW) issued him the certificate," the state government said.

"Further conduct of the criminal trial may go against the good faith amongst the parties as far as the certificate of ownership issued to Mohanlal is concerned. One cannot go back from that ownership certificate and it was stopped from contradicting, deny or declare to be false the previous statement made by the actor in the court," it added.

"The government should not be allowed to revert from its promises in order to keep the faith of the people and in the interest of good governance," the government further said.

The case was registered by the forest department in 2012. The state government submitted the application in Kuruppampady Judicial Magistrate Court, which will hear the matter on July 24.

New Delhi, Aug 4: Almost two months after the demise of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, actor Preity Zinta on Tuesday watched his last film 'Dil Bechara' for the second time and said it was an 'emotional roller coaster'.

The 'Kal Ho Na Ho' actor shared a picture of one of the scenes from the film on Instagram and thanked film director Mukesh Chhabra for doing justice to the 'Kai Po Che!' actor's last film.

"Saw #Dilbechara again Thank you @castingchhabra for doing full justice to Sushant's last movie," she wrote in the caption.
"It was surreal, a tearjerker and an emotional roller coaster all the way," she added.

She also praised Sushant's co-actor Sanjana Sanghi for doing a "fab job" in the film which happens to be her debut flick.

"@sanjanasanghi96 U and the rest of the cast did a fab job. Congratulations to all of you. #Bittersweet #MissU," the 45-year-old actor further wrote.

Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai's Bandra residence on June 14.
