March 12, 2014

Aamir_KhanMumbai, Mar 12: An FIR was registered against unidentified persons here on March 11 for allegedly publishing and posting "offensive and false information" about actor Aamir Khan and his TV show on some social networking sites, three days after he brought the matter to the notice of the police.

"An FIR was registered the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code against unidentified persons at the Bandra-Kurla Complex cyber police station in suburban Bandra East.

"The complainant in the case is Shrinivas Rama Rao, executive producer of Aamir Khan Productions Pvt Ltd," a crime branch officer said.

"A request has been sent to the authorities concerned. Certain websites have deleted the offensive material. Today, Aamir Khan provided some more information," the officer said.

On Saturday, Aamir had approached the Mumbai police, alleging a smear campaign had been launched against him on some social networking sites to tarnish his reputation and that of his TV show.

The 48-year-old actor had met Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Sadanand Date at Mumbai Police Headquarters and briefed him about "false and malicious messages" allegedly being circulated in social networking sites to damage his image and the reputation of his issue-based TV show. The actor had also clarified his stand about a social networking site.

"False and malicious messages are circulating through various electronic media including Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter as well as other social media networks, alleging donations are being sought by my television program Satyamev Jayate Season 2, in relation to an entity which claims to be working in the field of Masjid Construction Assistance and placement assistance for Muslim youngsters," he had posted on Facebook account.

The actor said his TV show was associated with the Humanity Trust at Hanspukur in West Bengal which is a charitable hospital run by Ajoy Mistry and his mother Subhashini Mistry and not the one being mentioned on social media.

"All donations sought in Satyamev Jayate are used and channelized for entirely deserving and secular causes, contrary to the content of the highly mischievous and malicious insinuations in the messages, being circulated by vested and unscrupulous interests," the actor said.

Mumbai, Jan 12: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday came out in support of actor Deepika Padukone, who is facing flak from the BJP and some other quarters over her visit to the JNU campus in Delhi to express solidarity with students who were recently attacked by armed assailants.

Raut, who is a Rajya Sabha member and the executive editor of Shiv Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana', said the country cannot be run in a "Talibani" style.

After Padukone's visit to the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Tuesday, many appreciated her "silent solidarity", but some others criticised her for "supporting Leftists", saying it was a promotional stunt for her latest film "Chhapaak".

Some also demanded a boycott of her film, based on the life of an acid attack survivor, played by Padukone.

A section of BJP leaders also criticised the 34-year- old actor over her JNU visit.

Talking to PTI, Raut said, "The demand for boycott of the actress and her film is wrong. The country cannot be run in a 'Talibani' style."

"Chhapaak", directed by Meghna Gulzar, hit the theatres on Friday.

Declaring a movie tax-free means the state has waived the entertainment levy imposed on it, thereby bringing down the ticket rates and encouraging more people to watch it.

New Delhi, Jun 2: After Amitabh Bachchan, it is actor Akshay Kumar, who has come forward to support Bhumi Pednekar's initiative -- Climate Warrior -- urging the people to plant trees.

Bhumi Pednekar has sought to bring Bollywood together to spread awareness about mother nature through her campaign in view of the coming World Environment Day (June 5).

The campaign endeavours to get leaders from the entertainment industry to tell what is the 'one wish they have for the earth.'

Following the thread, the 'Kesari' actor was seen raising his voice on issues, and have taken steps to bring awareness to important causes like climate change.

"Our Beautiful Planet that has sustained us now needs us to protect it more than ever. During this time we as a community must tread carefully and act immediately" Akshay Kumar was seen saying in a video posted by Pednekar on Instagram.

"A lot of damage has been done and climate change is a grave reality that all of us are facing," he added.

Explaining his one wish to rebuild mother nature, is, as he says: "The simplest act of planting trees."

"I consider this as one of the most basic and efficient deeds that we can exercise individually and also urge others to do so. Let us do our bit to heal and rebuild the only planet we have. So join me and become a Climate Warrior," the 'Padman' actor concluded.

Ahead of the World Environment Day, and in support of Bhumi's initiative, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan earlier in the day also pledged to be 'climate-conscious' in a bid to protect nature.

Chennai, Mar 12: Superstar Rajinikanth on Thursday clarified that he never aspired to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and said his plans for politics include different heads for his prospective party and a possible government headed by it.

In his first official press conference since December 31, 2017, when he announced to take the political plunge, the veteran star also said he planned to appoint as CM, an educated youth who was compassionate and had self-respect.

With a two-leadership system for party and the government, the former would act as an "opposition" to highlight issues and would not even hesitate to "remove", apparently the head of the government, if it fails to perform, he said.

His prospective party would focus on including a substantial amount of youngsters in the age group of below 45 years while the rest would comprise retired judges and IAS and IPS officials among others.

"I myself would reach out to them and invite them," to join him, the 69-year-old actor said.

Contrary to expectations, he however, did not make a concrete statement on floating his party but called for an "uprising" by youth, after which he would make his formal political entry.
