Gaziabad, Sep 9: In a bid to checkmate BJP, Aam Aadmi Party today said it is in contact with Congress, JD(U) and some "honest" BJP legislators to prevent the saffron party from forming government in Delhi through "ill means".kejriwal copy

At a press conference here, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal claimed that the BJP was in touch with 15 AAP MLAs and he will come out with "more sting tapes if the need arises".

Kejriwal had yesterday released a video of a "sting operation" in which BJP's Delhi unit Vice President Sher Singh Dagar allegedly offered bribe to AAP MLA from Sangam Vihar Dinesh Mohania to switch sides.

"I want to make it very clear that AAP is in touch with all the parties...with (independent MLA from Mundka) Rambeer Shokeen, (JDU MLA) Shoaib Iqbal, (expelled AAP MLA Vinod Kumar) Binny, the Congress and even some honest MLAs from the BJP.

"By saying this we make it clear that we are not aiming to form the government, but we want to stop the BJP from forming the government through dishonest means. We are in favour of elections," Kejriwal said.

The former Delhi Chief Minister also accused Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung of batting for the BJP and demanded that letter written by Lieutenant Governor to the President seeking his permission to invite the BJP for government formation should be withdrawn immediately.

"It is LG's constitutional responsibility to see that there is no assault on the constitution. We are also meeting the LG tomorrow and will hand him over the CD and apprise him of BJP's plan of horse trading for forming the government.

"The letter written by the LG to the president should be immediately withdrawn and revised," he said. He also announced to launch a campaign to "expose" the saffron party before the people.

"We will go to the people of Delhi with the video clip and tell how the BJP is trying to buy our MLAs and expose the way they were trying to form a government in Delhi by putting all ethics and morality on the backburner," said Kejriwal.

He said that the party is going to write to the President that the BJP should not be given a chance to form the government in Delhi.

He wondered why BJP was "afraid" of polls. "It is their government, their governor, they have 7 MPs then why they don't want to go for elections in the national capital," Kejriwal said.

New Delhi, Feb 13: The BJP's Amit Shah today said statements like "goli maaro" and "Indo-Pak match" should not have been made by BJP leaders ahead of the Delhi elections.

The BJP may have suffered in the elections because of hate statements made by party leaders, he said, reported news agency Press Trust of India.

The party, he said, had distanced itself from such remarks.

Ahmedabad, Mar 15: Four Congress MLAs in Gujarat have tendered their resignation to Assembly Speaker Rajendra Trivedi ahead of the election to the four Rajya Sabha seats in the state to be held on March 26.

The four Congress legislators tendered their resignation on Saturday, which Trivedi has accepted.

Trivedi told this to PTI on Sunday.

He said he will announce the names of the legislators in the Legislative Assembly on Monday.

"Four Congress MLAs tendered their resignation to me on Saturday, and I will announce their names in the Assembly tomorrow," he said.

With this, the strength of the Congress party in the 182-member Gujarat Assembly has come down to 69 from 73.

The Congress had on Saturday shifted its 14 MLAs to Jaipur fearing horse-trading by the ruling BJP ahead of the Rajya Sabha polls.

The BJP has fielded Abhay Bhardwaj, Ramila Bara and Narhari Amin for the election.

Given its number in the Assembly, the ruling party can only win two seats unless it manages cross-voting from the opposition camp or ensures defection of Congress MLAs to win the third seat.

The Congress has fielded senior leaders Shaktisinh Gohil and Bharatsinh Solanki.

New Delhi, Mar 14: A Delhi court on Friday granted bail to three alleged members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) -- Parvez (Delhi President), Iliyas (Delhi Secretary) and Danish -- in connection with the organization's role in the northeast Delhi violence last month.

Metropolitan Magistrate Prabhdeep Kaur granted bail to all three accused on furnishing personal bail bonds of Rs 30,000 each.

The court said that "Investigating Officer (IO) has nowhere mentioned that any of the non-bailable offences has been disclosed or has come out during investigation till now, therefore, accused be enlarged on bail."

According to police, the three men were arrested for allegedly spreading fake propaganda during the anti-CAA protests.

Delhi police, while opposing bail and seeking remand, stated that police custody is required because accused were involved in a conspiracy of communal riots which resulted in the death of 50 innocent people and injuries to approximately 300 persons and huge loss of government and public properties.
