Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha says no to Sulibele to uphold unity of Kannadigas

Dubai, Oct 26: It's official. Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, a premium organisation of non-resident Kannadigas (NRKs) in United Arab Emirates, has decided to drop Yuva Birgade leader Chakravarty Sulibele from its guests' list for the impendingKarnataka Rajyotsava' celebration in the wake of fierce opposition from several Kannadiga expats.

chakrasoooli“We had invited Mr Sulibele as chief guest for the Rajyotsava and award event to be held on November 4 at Indian Social and Cultural Centre in Abu Dhabi. But, now we have decided to drop him,” said an office-bearer of the Sangha.

Sarvotham Shetty, a philanthropist and leader of the Sangha, said that they had decided to invite Mr Sulibele for Rajyotsava event after the latter took part in a programme in Dubai a few months ago. “We did not think its negative aspects. Some people made it a big issue. Now we cancelled his visit,” he texted in a WhatsApp group.

Another member of Sangha told Coastaldigest.com on condition of anonymity that the intention behind inviting Mr Sulibele for Kannada related event just to entertain and educate the audience and not to spread hatred. “I know that Mr Sulibele sometimes delivers provocative speeches. But, he can speak good things too,” he said.

Meanwhile, NRKs in UAE have hailed the Sangha for respecting the sentiments of the secular expatriates and cancelling the scheduled visit of Mr Sulibele, who is known for communally provocative speeches.

“I wholeheartedly appreciate Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and Sarvotham Shetty for positively responding to the request of stopping Sulibele. It is a great gesture. It is not an easy decision to change a major programme in the last moment. My salutes sir,” (sic) texted an NRK in response to Mr Shetty's decision.

“By stopping Mr Sulibele, the Sangha has upheld the unity of all Kannadigas in UAE. This proves the broadmindedness of Mr Shetty and other office-bearers of Sangha,” opined Mohammed Saleem, another NRK in Abu Dhabi.

Intolerance condemned

Meanwhile, a Kannadiga Muslim cleric in Dubai has expressed his displeasure over the aggressive response to Sangha's invitation to Mr Sulibele.

“I came to know that some youths called the office-bearers of Sangha and tried to threaten them. This is not acceptable. If you resort to such an aggressive behaviour, then what is the difference between you and Mr Sulibele,” he questioned.

“The Sangha has respected the feelings of NRKs and cancelled Mr Sulibele's visit. We must appreciate them for this bold decision,” he added.

Ms Shetty,

Question is not about the cancellation of his entry , our question is ADKS being in muslim country how could they even think of inviting such a hate monger and how they even call him a orator and nationalist. such people are termed as hate momgers.

As we all aware this is a first try from rss agent to know the impact. Last month they tried in a different way by inviting local ruled family for Hindu Religious function and the chief guest shown his respect and honour to all the gathering and to Hindu religious leader. We all know and understood, it is the humanity and respect to other religions who are residing in their country. But few acting committee members of this function are from rss communal group with their crooked mind and bad intention to create problems in between NRI community.

What qualified peace loving NRI citizens are in UAE for their better prospect and future are well aware of rss communal group and their intention - which NRI 's never allow to succeed. If it is backing by any tycoon or what ever else.

Ms.Shetty
It is not hatred, it is just the sheer frustration that is spilled out against the incident. He was very adamant & aloof in the beginning despite our
Kind requests & reminders. It has taken so much effort, energy and trauma to make him change his decision on so called \great orator & Nationalist\""

I really dont understand why these hate commenters are still behind the organisers when they have cancelled Chakravarty Sulibele's visit . I think those who are posting comments neither reading the article nor trying to understand the ground reality.

Those who tried to glorify Sulibele should apologize. In its invitation Kannada sangha portrayed Sulibele as Nationalist Thinker and great orator.

Dear Sarvotham Shetty,

When you know that Sulibele speaks Provocative speech than why even you thought to invite him. you just tried to promote him and Secular minded stopped it.

i'm sure again next year you will invite some other Sangh pariwar leader. this will continue same way if your role models are sanghpariwar scholars.

Sangha Dropped Sulibele from Function. But this action is not clearing our doubts. Need to closely monitor their all activities in UAE and India. Because, how they invited a communal hatemonger to UAE..?? Question is still remaining.. should informed to concerned authority.

It is a known fact that Mr Sarvottam Shetty has friendship with Sangh Parivar leaders. I feel there was Sangha's communal motive behind Soolibele's invitation. But he forgot the fact that he is in a Muslim country. He wouldn't have cancelled Soolibele's speech, had it been in India.

Rajyotsava Award for what ?? What good things he has done to karnataka? Except spreading hatred speeches he has done zero good things. His mind is communal. I appreciate the decision of kannada sangh for not inviting this anti social element.

Great Humiliation and tight slap on the face of Sulibele.

it is not the good will prevailed to Sarvothama, only pressure from all quarters of society forced him to take this decision . He learnt a good lesson. My request to him is -please treat all kannadigas equally with respect, irrespective of their caste, creed or religion.

Still i thank him for the decision taken.

Dear Office bearers of ADKS, “I wholeheartedly appreciate your team for positively responding to the secular Kannadigas request of stopping Sulibele. It is a great gesture.

“By stopping provocative communal Sulibele, the ADKS has upheld the unity of all Kannadigas in UAE.

In future also when you select the speaker kindly review their back ground in order to avoid such embarrassment.

Why these organisations are not calling and fund Mr. Hajabba who is recognised by world? Why these organisations calls Sulibele, Kateel, Shenava and other Muslim haters for events?
Why don't they call Kanhaiya kumar? Why don't they call Odissa man who carried his wife's dead body for miles?

Sarvotham Shetty sir, you proved to be SARVOTHAM in ALL respect and saved the Kannada Sangha Abu Dhabi. Strong lesson to hatemongers and anti-social elements who earns their bread by dividing people on communal lines. B.R. Shetty sir - Please maintain distance from these elements - the love and respect you earned from all sections of Indians should not be allowed to be destroyed by few anti-humans. Long Live Kannada Sangha Abu Dhabi!!!

very good decission by Sangha... Person like Sulibele should not be allowed to enter for secular people's programme who loves peace & harmony among different community... Soolibele is worst person who think about divide & rule by giving hatred speeches against muslims & christians....

There are so many good thinkers in our state who are more eligible for guests... Soolibele is not even fit as a spectator.... Personally i appreciate decision of Sangha for cancelling his arrival....

All the best Sangha & office bearers & NRI ..

\Be United against peace breakers & hatred mongers\""

Bengaluru, Jan 25: Several women have completed a 24-hour protest here against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and are going strong to stretch it to 48 hours.

"More than a thousand women gathered on the Masjid Road at Frazer Town to denounce the CAA and National Register of Citizens (NRC)," participant and Mount Carmel College student Noor Zahira told IANS.

The women protesters extended their support to the students in Jamia Millia Islamia, the Aligarh Muslim University, the Jawaharlal Nehru University and others who were recently roughed up allegedly by police and masked goons.

Zahira, 20, said the women's protest was planned only for 24 hours but is continuing to touch 48 hours.

Starting 3pm on Thursday, the women, several of them in burqas, niqabs and hijabs, are sitting on the road just outside the Haji Sait mosque in Frazer Town in a flash protest. Though they have informed the police, they did not wait for the permission. Around 11 pm, police arrived and shut off the protesters' loud speakers.

Zahira said already four such women's anti-CAA protests were taken out in Bengaluru. Women from all ages groups have joined the protest and are sloganeering.

As the women are protesting on the road, men are guarding them standing on the opposite road, ensuring all supplies such as food and others to them, she added.

"Muslim women were not alone in denouncing the CAA... we were joined by the transgenders, Hindu women, Christian women, Dalits and others, " she said.

Some of the protesters also indulged in creative work such as composing songs against the CAA and making placards.

Though four anti-CAA women's protests happened at the Town Hall and other landmarks in Bengaluru, they were only a few hours long.

The protesting women are also showing support to women protesters at Shaheen Bagh in Delhi who were accused of demonstrating for Rs 500. However, the protest did not align anti-CAA demonstration with any political party, keeping it apolitical.

Bengaluru, Mar 19: To better enforce social distancing and prevent further spread of Covid-19, the Karnataka health and family welfare department on Wednesday said it will "stamp the back of the palm" of international passengers advised to be on home quarantine, along with the date they are allowed to get out of home. The stamping process began at 12am Thursday.

Pankaj Kumar Pandey, commissioner, health and family welfare, said: "It is noted that a few passengers under home quarantine are not following the instructions. Therefore, it has been decided to stamp the back of the palm of their left hand with a specially designed stamp which will indicate the last day of quarantine."

He said the special stamp will use an indelible ink and "airports in Karnataka have been instructed to follow this without fail". On average, about 3,000 people are arriving in Bengaluru on international flights every day.

The department said social distancing is the only known method of combating the spread of Covid-19 and added, "International passengers are segregated as symptomatic and asymptomatic."

High-risk flyers kept at mass quarantine unit

The symptomatic passengers (Group-A) are taken to designated hospitals; asymptomatic ones, depending on the port of origin, are taken to the quarantine centre or permitted to go on home quarantine.

At the mass quarantine centre, the asymptomatic passengers are divided into moderate-risk (Group-B) and high-risk (Group-C) categories.

“The high-risk passengers are kept at a mass quarantine centre for medical observation. The moderate-risk passengers are being sent for home quarantine where they need to spend 14 days,” the statement added.

Pandey said: “International passengers changing flights within the country cannot be stopped. Ideally, they should be stamped at the first port of entry when they arrive from a foreign country which is not happening.” He said this issue will be brought to the notice of the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation.
