Abu Dhabi: Sumtech lift Mangalore Cup -2017

Abu Dhabi: The fifth season of Mangalore cup 2017 over-arm hard tennis MRI ball cricket tournament was held under the auspices of the MCC (Mangalore Cricket Club) at Sheikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium ground, here.

Vincent, Managing Director of Royal Institute of Music and Arts inaugurated the event and said “We are pleased to be part of such a highly competitive sports tournament happening at International stadium. Mangalorean cricket club is doing magnificent exertion since 5 years. This time it is bigger and better than before and look forward to the high level of sportsmanship to be displayed."

During the presentation ceremony Ronlad pinto Managing director Hyssna international addressed the gathering, he expressed sincere gratitude to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyanfounder of UAE and other rulers for makinga world class International cricket stadium. While recollecting MCC’s growth from the maiden season, He applauded the efforts of MCC president K. H Latheef for organizing the tournament in a systematic manner at International cricket stadium. He also wished success for MCC’s forthcoming charity plans.

Walter Almeda Managing Director Regal Furnishing congratulated MCC core committee for making the tournament great success. MCC President Latheef K. H Kakkinje honored the guests and sponsors with memento, Rasheed gave mementos to the match officials.

As many as 20 Karnataka teams from places across the United Arab Emirates participated in the event. All the participating teams played to their best attempt keeping the scores and sprits very high. All the matches were planned to be of 6 overs each, the final matches were cut short to three overs due to time constrains.

Sudhir Kumar Shetty, COO – Global Operations UAE Exchange, Dr. Shabeer Nellikode Managing director Universal Hospital, Dolphy Vas President Konkani Cultural organization(KCO) watched the tournament and appreciated the organizers.

In the finals battle Friday Chargers won the toss and elected to field, Sumtech able to put up the good score of 29 Runs (3 Overs) losing2 wickets. Sumtech made no mistakes to tackle the batsman’s of opponent team. Successfully restricted Friday chargersto 24 runs and taking 2 wickets. Last controlled over and good spells of Arshadsumtechmade Friday chargers to completely lose the battle. Friday Chargers turn out to be the Runner-up of the tournament.

Galaxy Abu Dhabi and Eleven worriers reached to the semifinals and got eliminated by the winners and runner-up teams accordingly.

Spectators received Tab, mobile phone and other attractive prizes under coupon lucky draw. Red Bull, Coco cola, Arwa, Almarai products, uniliver products seba med, du put up their kiosks and freely distributed their products to all spectators to support the tournament under their corporate responsibility & social commitment ethos. Henna for the women’s, face painting for kids and other sports activities were also organized for families.

Universal Hospital also joined hand with the magnificent event by conducting free Health checkup at the stadium for the spectators and teams. Dr. Rajeev Pillai CME Incharge Head of Marketing/ Corporate Health Universal Hospital commended the tournament.

Doha: Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF) once again set an example that no caste, creed, language and religion comes as hurdle for their humanitarian services and helped to perform last rites of Ramesh who committed suicide in Doha-Qatar.

45-year-old Ramesh son of K. Nagan hailing from Panikulam, Thrissur district in Kerala, who was working as a tailor committed suicide in his house at Ruwias in Qatar on 30th May 2020.

On hearing this news, some of his friends in Kearla informed Mr. Shihab who is also from Thrissur and a member of QISF and the same was brought to the notice of QISF humanitarian team head Mr. Abdul Latheef Madikeri and Basheer Ahmed of Tamil Nadu.

Immediately, the QISF team intervened and contacted the family members of the deceased in India and discussed the matter and consequences of sending the body back home to India in this pandemic COVID 19 situation.

Considering the prevailing situation, the family members gave the consent to bury the body in Qatar itself.

QISF team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation.

Finally, the body of the deceased was buried in Qatar on 7th June 2020 and the copies of all the relevant documents have been handed over to the family members.

The family members of the deceased thanked and applauded the leaders and all the members of QISF for their effective and on time humanitarian service rendered even in this pandemic crisis and having no bias.

Riyadh, Feb 24: Indian Islahi Center, Riyadh (IICR) kicked off the propagation campaign of "Learn the Quran" national conference, which is slated to be held on March 27, 2020 at Nofa Istiraha, Exit 18, Riyadh, Kingdom Saudi Arabia. It's IICR's 20th successful program.

Kerala Legislative Assembly's opposition leader & Congress leader, Ramesh Chennitthala inaugurated the campaign that was held at Voco Hotel in Riyadh, capital city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ramesh was on two days visit in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The objective of the campaign is to instil the keenness & to keep creating the continuous awareness amongst the community on Quran. It also enables to recite the Quran with Tajweed (science of reading the Quran) & correct form.

Aboobakker Edthanatukkara (President of IICR), Abdul Qayyum Bustani, Kunhi Kumbala, Abdullah Vallanchira, Adv. Manama: Kannada Sangha Bahrain President Mr. Pradeep Shetty and Vice President of Bahrain's prestigious KHK HEROES Foundation Mohammed Mansoor on Monday, May 11, met The Second Secretary (Consular & CW) of the Embassy of India, Bahrain Mr. P. K. Chowdhury in the Indian Embassy. 

The situation, problems and relief of Indians and Kannadigas residing in Bahrain during the COVID 19 Pandemic was discussed in detail. The distribution of food (dry ration) kits, as well as those seeking repatriation, was also discussed in the meeting.

When asked about the repatriation of distressed Kannadigas, the Second Secretary said that though the number of Kannadigas who wish to return home is not much compared to the rest of the states, still Embassy is compiling all the information and will do the needful soon. 

Mr. Shetty and Mr. Mansoor told the Second Secretary that those who are in problem can contact them and they are ready to do their best.
