Mangaluru, Jul 5: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishath (ABVP) has strongly denied that the five Hindutva activists who were arrested by Dakshina Kannada district police earlier this week on the charge of gang-raping a teen-aged college girl are its members.
In a statement here on Friday, ABVP State Secretary Harsha Narayana said that the five accused did not have any affiliation with the ABVP organization and are not even members of it.
Strongly urging the police to take a stringent action in bringing the accused to books, the ABVP leader urged the enforcing authorities to take severe action against those who are involved in spreading false news on social media.
However, the photos of the accused with saffron shawls are going viral on social media. They were also actively participating in Hindutva related events. Some of the accused have also uploaded their photos with several BJP leaders including MLAs.
