Mangaluru, May 9: City-based rationalist and activist Narendra Nayak has written an open letter to Vedavyas Kamath, the BJP candidate of Mangaluru City South constituency for May 12 Karnataka assembly polls, seeking the latter’s reply for five questions.

Here is the full text of the open letter:

To

Vedavyas Kamath,

BJP’s MLA candidate

Mangalore City South

This open letter is being addressed to you (Vedavyas Kamath) and I do expect an answer in the media for the questions I have raised. Your close friend and associate Naresh Shenoy has been accused No. 1 in the murder case of BJP member and RTI activist Vinayak Baliga. However, despite being the president of the local unit of the party, you have not raised your voice against this coldblooded murder. Your silence has given rise to many suspicions.

When your friend Naresh Shenoy was absconding and on the run from the police for nearly three months it was noticed by many that you too were out of circulation and doubts were expressed about your whereabouts.

At that time an advertisement appeared on the page 8 of Udayavani Kannada daily (June 8, 2016) about your foreign trip without mentioning any dates of travel but naming the destinations as Indonesia, Vietnam and Singapore. I do hope you have had a good time there.

Strangely, the advertisement was inserted by one Mohammad Al-Kumari, Chairman of Ontime Money Exchange, Dubai, Bahrain. Well, a search on Google did not show any results for this and hence I had requested some friends in Bahrain and Dubai to look for the same. But they also could not find anything. While Dubai is a part of UAE, Bahrain is a separate country. I fail to understand how the two got separated by a comma! We would like you to kindly confirm as to who this well-wisher of yours was.

While I do not want to cast any aspersions on any community like your party does, it would be fair to demand clear answers to the following questions from our MLA aspirant:

1. Who is Mohammad Al-Kumari and what is nature of the firm that he is the chairman of?

2. Is there a possibility that Mohammad Al-Kumari is a Pakistani, a member of any terror outfits like Al Qaeda, ISIS (as you and your party are likely to question any of us and allege funding by outside sources).

3. Please let us also know whether the advertisement was paid for in foreign currency.

4. Since it is claimed that you were travelling to the above mentioned places, though the dates have not been mentioned it would be very kind of you to produce the pages of your passport with evidence that you were really going to these places at that time!

5. If the advertisement is false you could kindly let the voters know as to what action you would propose to take on the matter.

A photo of the controversial advertisement appeared on Udayavani Kannada daily on June 8, 2016.

The Department of Preuniversity Education, Karnataka has declared the board exams or pre university I exam results. To get results online, the students need to log on to result.bspucpa.com and have to provide their registration number and date of birth.
Apart from the online portal, the students will get the results via mail or SMS.

“The results of the first year Pre-University Examinations will be announced on May 5. The results will be sent directly to students. Hence, colleges will not be displaying the results,” said S Suresh Kumar, Primary and Secondary Education Minister.

The pre-university course of PUC is a two-year course including class 11 and class 12 called PUC I and PUC II. It is based on PUC score that candidates can get admission to varsities.

Earlier, the Karnataka PUC 1 result was to be announced on March 27 which was postponed and hence the revised dates are announced now.

The board exam results have been put on halt due to the nation-wide lockdown imposed after the coronavirus pandemic gripped India. As of May 3, the number of people infected by the coronavirus in India had crossed over 40,000.

The HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank had in a meeting asked state and central boards to resume their evaluation process and declare the results to curb any further delay in the academic cycle. The academic cycle has been delayed by over a month due to the coronavirus. Now, the colleges will start by September instead of July.

Bengaluru, Jun 27: A Karnataka government employee on SSLC exam duty at a school in Pavagada, Tumakuru district, on Friday tested positive for Covid-19, prompting the education department to send all staff members of the exam centre on quarantine.

“No student has been affected. All the staff has been replaced,” said R Umashankar, principal secretary, education department.

How soon we get a coronavirus vaccine depends on not only the pace of work in research labs, but also the preparedness of factories supplying glass vials, stoppers and syringes
