Actress found dead at film shooting location in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jan 10: A junior artiste was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a construction site where shooting was underway for a Kannada film in north Bengaluru on Monday evening.maxresdefault copy

In November, two actors had died while shooting a stunt scene in Bengaluru.

Padma alias Padmavathi, 44, was among the 120 artistes taking part in the shooting of the film, VIP, directed by Nandakishore and starring Manoranjan, son of actor V Ravichandran, at the construction site in Avalahalli, near Yelahanka.

The 160-member film unit was shooting a dance sequence and after packing for the day, one of the artistes noticed Padma's absence during a head count, sources said. A search was immediately launched and Padma's body found on the ground floor of the building around 7.30 pm, they added.

Amit Singh, SP, Bengaluru Rural district, said a police team is at the spot and investigating. He confirmed that a woman's body was found but it was not clear how she had died. He refused to say anything on whehter she had falled from a height.

However, director Nandakishore told the media that the woman was found dead at some other place and not at the place where shooting was underway. Jurisdictional Rajanukunte police were not available for comment.

No other details of the woman could be asceertained. VIP is said to be the remake of Dhanush's Tamil movie of the same name.

On November 7, two actors, Raghava Uday and Anil Kumar, drowned after they jumped into the Tippagondanahalli reservoir from a helicopter during the shooting of a film, Maastigudi. The hero, Duniya Vijay, who jumped with them survived the jump as he had been provided witha life jacket, which was denied to the two others though they did not know swimming.

The bodies of Anil and Uday were recovered after a massive search a few days later.

Panipat, Mar 3: A 22-year-old man was charred to death after he came in contact with a live electricity wire while posing for a TikTok video near the Matlaudha railway station here, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday evening when Vikas, a resident of Dharamgarh village, climbed a pole over which the wire was passing and posed for the video, police said.

His three friends were standing below when the accident took place.

Vikas came in contact with the wire carrying 25,000 volts current and was burnt, police said.

Police have sent the body for a post-mortem and started investigation into the matter.

Kolkata, Jul 4: Two people were killed and around four injured when the bombs they were allegedly manufacturing went off inside a house in Murshidabad district, a senior police officer said on Saturday.

Their identities were yet to be established as the condition of those injured and undergoing treatment at a hospital was still "critical", he said.

The thatched roof of the house, where they were allegedly making bombs, also blew off in the explosion, which occurred at Suti town in Jangipur subdivision of the district around 9:00 pm on Friday, the officer said.

The house has been damaged completely, and its owner is on the run, he said.

As of now, the wife of the house owner is being questioned in connection with the incident, the officer added.

Jun 5: The fear of contracting COVID-19 infection allegedly forced a 65-year-old man to commit suicide in Maharashtra's Beed district, police said on Friday.

The incident occurred at Mangewadi in Patoda on Thursday, when a passerby found the body of Asaram Pote hanging from a tree in his farm, an official said.

The police were immediately alerted and Pote's body was brought down in the presence of his relatives and locals, he said.

A suicide note was found on the deceased's person, in which he said that he had taken the extreme step as he was scared of contracting COVID-19 infection and no one should be held responsible for his death, the official said.

A case of accidental death was registered in this regard and further probe was underway, he added.
