Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 14: A day after criticising Malayalam actor's body AMMA, senior south Indian actress Revathy Sunday came out with a clarification on a comment she had made on the the experience of a minor girl during the shooting of a film years ago.

In a press note, Revathi said, the incident, which she mentioned, had happened 25 or 26 years back and not in recent years as some people were projecting it to be.

The 'Kilukkam' actress also made it clear that the girl, who had sought her help was not sexually or physically assaulted.

The actress-director came out with a clarification after many people had criticised her silence and a man reportedly filed a police complaint against her for "hiding" the incident all these years.

While detailing the necessity to make the film industry a safer place for women, Revathy had said in the press meet called by Women in Cinema Collective in Kochi Saturday that, a 17-year-old girl had knocked at her doors, pleading to save her during the shooting of a movie.

The meet was to expose the alleged apathetic stand taken by the leadership of the Association for Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) against the young actress who was abducted and molested in her car in February, 2017.

"On that night, at around 11.30 PM, a 17-year-old girl, whose identity I do not wish to disclose, came running to my room and knocked on my door," Revathy said.

She had said that some one repeatedly knocked at her door asking her to open and she did not know who it was.

This happened in spite of her grandmother staying with her, Revathy said adding she asked her to come inside the room and locked the door.

"The girl was scared and I was also equally scared and both of us waited out that night in fear. No sexual or physical assault actually happened. That is an incident which has always troubled me all these years," the senior actress said.

Revathy said she had shared the experience since she did not want such incidents to be repeated in the industry any more.

"Though a lot of people might think it was a trivial issue, it was a traumatic experience for me and that girl.

No one should dare to come and scare a young artist into submission," she said adding that she did not have the courage to go and confront whoever was out there that night.

The WCC members including Revathy Saturday had criticised AMMA and its leadership for allegedly showing "bias" against the assaulted actress and supporting actor Dileep, the accused in the sensational case.

A platform of women actors, directors, script writers and singers of the Malayalam industry, the WCC was launched soon after the shocking actress assault incident, to ensure gender justice and safeguard women's rights in the film world.

The WCC members have been on the warpath since the actors' body had decided to reinstate prominent actor Dileep, who was arrested on charges of conspiracy in the actress assault case and later released on bail.

Washington, Apr 8: Choosing stethoscope over the crown, Miss England 2019, Bhasha Mukherjee, has returned to work as a doctor as the world battles with coronavirus pandemic.

According to CNN, she was a junior doctor with a specialisation in respiratory medicine, before being crowned as Miss England in August last year. The beauty queen, who has her roots in India's Kolkata city, had taken a career break from the medical field.

She had paused her medical career for some humanitarian work that she was offered by several charities and was on a tour to different countries including India.

"I was invited to Africa, to Turkey, then to India, Pakistan and several other Asian countries to be an ambassador for various charity work," CNN quoted her as saying.

She had been in India at the beginning of March for four weeks. During her stay as an ambassador of the Coventry Mercia Lions Club, the 24-year-old had visited several schools and had donated stationery and other items to the needy.

Mukherjee then returned back UK as the situation worsened there with the coronavirus spreading at a fast rate. She then contacted the hospital and asked them that she wanted to rejoin.

According to CNN, the Miss England beauty pageant winner said that she felt wrong to be wearing the crown while people around the world were dying from the virus.

"When you are doing all this humanitarian work abroad, you're still expected to put the crown on, get ready... look pretty. I wanted to come back home. I wanted to come and go straight to work," CNN quoted her as saying.

"I felt a sense of this is what I'd got this degree for and what better time to be part of this particular sector than now. It was incredible the way the whole world was celebrating all key workers, and I wanted to be one of those, and I knew I could help," she added.

As the beauty queen has a recent travel history, she is currently in self-isolation and will return to work once her quarantine period is over.
She was crowned as Miss England 2019 in August last year.

According to World Health Organisation, 13,53,361people have been affected by coronavirus and over 80,000 people have lost their lives to it.

Chennai, Mar 28: Chennai City Corporation personnel stuck a home quarantine sticker at the office of actor-politician Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam office on Saturday, leading to speculation that the matinee star was quarantined for the coronavirus.

While there was speculation if Kamal Haasan was quarantined, the Greater Chennai Corporation said their staffers pasted the sticker on the premises because actress Gautami Tadimalli "returned from Dubai recently and her passport has this address (Eldams Road in upscale Alwarpet)."

The present residence of the actress was not known immediately.

The sticker read, "We are in home quarantine to safeguard ourselves and Chennai from the coronavirus." It was removed soon, an official said, declining to elaborate.

Kamal Haasan clarified in a statement that he was not quarantined.

"Based on the notice stuck outside my house, news has been spread saying that I have been quarantined. But most of you already know that I have not been living there for the past few years and the Makkal Needhi Maiam party office has been functioning from there," he said.

Further, the actor said, the news that he has been quarantined "is not true."

As a precautionary measure, he has been maintaining social distancing, he said.
