AirAsia India unveiled its all new re-branded aircraft, with a livery dedicated to the most awaited movie of the year – Kabali, which is expected to be released next month across the globe.

Bearing the image of superstar Rajini from the movie Kabali, parts of the aircraft have been painted and stickered with the livery. Kalaipuli S Thanu, proprietor, V Creations said, “It is the first time in the history of Indian cinema that an airline has dedicated an aircraft to a movie.”

Claiming that only a cinema star like Rajinikanth commands such popularity and fame breaking barriers of age and geography, he said, “We are thrilled beyond words to see such excitement surrounding Kabali from the fans and brands that have associated with us.”

The aircraft will be flying across the AirAsia India network of destinations spanning Bengaluru, New Delhi, Goa, Pune, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Guwahati, Imphal, Vizag and Kochi. The excitement does not end here. As an official airline partner for the Rajinikanth starrer Kabali, superstar fans from across India can get to Bengaluru and fly to Chennai to watch the movie.

“This special plane, powered by Thalaivar (Rajinikanth) quite literally, is dedicated to Rajini fans across the globe,” Amar Abrol, CEO, AirAsia India said.

After his blockbuster Endhiran, Rajinikanth’s latest movies such as Lingaa and animated film Kochadaiiyaan flopped at box offices. Kochadaiiyaan, directed by Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya R Ashwin, was the first motion capture film.

Directed by K S Ravikumar, Lingaa, which was produced by Kannada film producer Rockline Venkatesh and marketed worldwide by Eros Entertainment, also failed with producers demanding Rajinikanth to compensate their loss.

The release of Kabali, expected in June, was postponed. Now, the release of the movie has been further postponed to July 22.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is returning from the US soon and is expected to resume shooting for his upcoming mega budget film 2.0.
