Airody Rama Ganiga dies

Udupi, Oct 22: Yakshagana artiste Airody Rama Ganiga (98) passed away at a private hospital in Koteshwar late Thursday night.

arg Though hailing from Airody village, Ganiga had settled down in Kumbashi village for the last four decades. He began his career as a “bhagavatha” (singer-director) in Yakshagana puppetry shows and later went to do “bhagavatike” for Yakshagana performances.

He also served as a teacher. He had also composed Yakshagana episodes including ‘Kumbashi Mahatme.’ He was closely associated with the Jnanpith award winner Kota Shivaram Karanth.

He was also a recipient of several awards, including the Rajyotsava award. The Yakshagana Kalaranga organization has mourned his death.

Cauvery water, Kodagu mud collected for Ram Mandir

Madikeri, Jul 24: Water from river Cauvery, which is deemed as holy, and mud from Kodagu, the birth district of river Cauvery was collected and will be sent to Ayodhya for use during groundbreaking (Bhoomi Pooja) ceremony for the construction of Ram Mandir on August 5.

Workers of Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Hindu Jagarana Vedike collected the soil and water from River Cauvery at Talacauvery Kshetra, the birthplace of river Cauvery.

Special pooja was offered at Talacauvery, praying for the timely completion of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Team B-Human distributes Ramadan kits in Puttur

Puttur, May 9: City based Team B-Human today distributed Ramadan kits among 70 families in Koodu Raste Jamaat and 30 families in Papetthadka Jamaat in Puttur taluk.

This was the second phase of Ramadan kit distributions carried out by the Team B-Human. So far the team distributed Ramadan kits among 200 families in three different Jamaat.

Koodu Raste Juma Masjid Khateeb Yaqoob Darimi offered dua before distribution. Team B-Human members Ashraf Aina group, Althaf, Shia Deals, Ahnaf Deals, Abdul Shukoor Haji, and E-Friends founder president Imtiyaz Perla, Saleem U B of Youth Congress, Juma Masjid president P K Mohammad Shafi Papettadka were present.

A release issued by the Team B-Human sated that it distributed food among 35,000 people since April 23. The beneficiaries include a large number of migrant workers irrespective of their caste and religion. It also arranged Iftar and Suhoor for around 450 stranded migrants every day.

Asif Deals, found of Team B-Human, said that in next phases more Ramadan kits will be distributed among needy families in some jamaats.
