Mumbai, Mar 25:  Akash Ambani, the eldest son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, and Shloka Mehta, the daughter of prominent diamantaire Russell Mehta, were engaged at a ceremony in Goa yesterday, reports said. Pictures shared by fan pages and social media users showed a charming lawn ceremony under palm trees and white shamianas. Reporting the engagement, local news website Nagpur Today said the wedding ceremony had been planned for later this year. However, there has been no official statement from the families yet.

Akash Ambani, 25, is the older of the two sons of Nita and Mukesh Ambani, India's richest man who heads Reliance Industries. Shloka Mehta is the youngest daughter of Mona and Russell Mehta, who runs Rosy Blue Diamonds, one of the world's largest diamond trading companies.

Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta studied together at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai and have been close friends for years, a report in the Free Press Journal said.

Shloka Mehta, who also studied at the Princeton University and the London School of Economics, is a director in the family-run diamond firm. She is also the co-founder of ConnectFor, a platform that makes it easy and convenient for people to volunteer in Mumbai, the Free Press Journal reported.

Akash Ambani is on the board of directors of Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail.

Speculation that they were about to be married peaked earlier this monthwhen reports said a December wedding date had been fixed and an engagement ceremony was being planned around March 24.

New Delhi, Jul 16: The Rajasthan High Court will hear Thursday afternoon a petition filed on behalf of the Sachin Pilot camp, challenging a move to disqualify dissident MLAs from the state assembly.

The plea against the disqualification notices sent from the Speaker’s office to Pilot and 18 other Congress MLAs will be heard by Justice Satish Chandra Sharma.

The 19 MLAs were sent notices Tuesday by the Speaker after the Congress complained that the MLAs had defied a party whip to attend two Congress Legislature Party meetings.

Riyadh, May 22: The family of murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi on Friday said that they forgave his killers. Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who had written columns critical of Saudi Arabia, was brutally killed in October 2018, allegedly at the behest of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.

“In this blessed night of the blessed month [of Ramadan] we remember God’s saying: If a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah,” Jamal Khashoggi’s son Salah Khashoggi said in a tweet. “Therefore, we the sons of the Martyr Jamal Khashoggi announce that we pardon those who killed our father, seeking reward [from] God almighty.”

The legal outcome of this announcement is not yet clear. Earlier, Salah Khashoggi said he had “full confidence” in the judicial system, and that the accused were trying to exploit the case.

Jamal Khashoggi’s body was said to have been dismembered inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul and disposed of elsewhere, but his remains were never found.
