Bengaluru, Apr 11: Defending the government's decision to reject the report of the former Minority Commission Chairman Anwar Manippady on encroachment of Wakf property in the State, Congress MLA and member of the Karnataka State Wakf Board Tanveer Sait has described the report as politically motivated.
Addressing presspersons in Vijayapura, he said that the report was aimed at defaming the Congress leaders and not to bring out the truth. “The report had several flaws and it was not true. With several lacunae in the report, the government rejected it,” he said.
Mr. Sait, however, said that the government has ordered a fresh survey of all Wakf property and soon, the survey would be completed.
Mr. Sait, who has been appointed election observer by the party for seven town panchayats of the district which would be going to the polls, said that the government has upgraded 53 gram panchayats to town panchayats and one town panchayat to municipality. “The party is confident of winning the highest number of seats in the local bodies polls,” he said.
