New Delhi, May 4: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal was slapped by a man during a roadshow in Delhi's Moti Nagar area on Saturday. Arvind Kejriwal was slapped when he was holding the roadshow in Delhi for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Arvind Kejriwal was slapped when he was waving at the people who had gathered during his roadshow in Delhi. A man, wearing a red T-shirt, climbed atop Arvind Kejriwal's open jeep and slapped the Delhi chief minister before being taken down by AAP supporters.

The man who slapped Arvind Kejriwal has been identified as Suresh of Kailash Park. According to the video, the man also abused Kejriwal. He has been taken to Moti Nagar police station. Police are trying to verify his identity.

It is being reported that the person who tried to slap Arvind Kejriwal was very angry with the AAP leader. He was already waiting and as soon as Arvind Kejriwal came, he jumped in front of his car and tried to slap Aam Aadmi Party's leader Arvind Kejriwal.

DCP (West) Monika Bhardwaj said the man has been identified as 33-year-old Suresh and he deals in spare parts in Kailash Park.

After the slapping incident, AAP spokesman Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or Modi supporters for the attack on Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP has, however, rejected the allegations of the AAP.

The AAP also took to Twitter to condemn the Moti Nagar "cowardly" incident and said, "Another negligence in the security of CM Arvind Kejriwal. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal got attacked during the roadshow. We condemned this cowardly act. This Opposition sponsored attack cannot stop the Aam Aadmi in Delhi."

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also took to Twitter and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah of carrying out such attacks on Arvind Kejriwal.

"Kya Modi aur Amit Shah ab Kejriwal ki hatya karwana chahte hain? 5 saal saari taaqat lagakar jiska manobal nahi tod sake, chunav mein nahi hara sake ab usse raaste se iss tarah hatana chahte ho kaayaron! Ye Kejriwal hi tumhara kaal hai," Manish Sisodia said.

Rough translation: Do Modi and Amit Shah now want to get Kejriwal killed? You could not break Kejriwal's morale and defeat him in elections for five years. Is this how you want to remove from your way? Kejriwal is your doom.

Trinamool Congress, too, has condemned the incident where Arvind Kejriwal was slapped by a man during his roadshow.

A similar incident happened in April 2014 when Arvind Kejriwal holding a roadshow in Delhi's Dakshinpuri area. A man lunged at Arvind Kejriwal and slapped him on the neck before being taken down by Kejriwal's supporters.

Four days later, Arvind Kejriwal faced another such attack after an unidentified man slapped him during a roadshow in Delhi. The assault left Kejriwal with a swollen face and eye. In 2013, Arvind Kejriwal was attacked with ink.

Lok Sabha elections in Delhi will be held in a single phase on May 12.

Feb 29: The "Dadi of Shaheenbagh" on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not understand the pain of losing children, as speakers at an anti-CAA rally here called on protesters to maintain peace and not give in to any provocation.

Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, said that the battle is not for a day or two, but the protesters will have to be prepared to continue it for years to come.

Asma Khatoon, who has earned fame as the "Dadi of Shaheenbagh" in Delhi, asked how can a person take care of the whole country when he cannot maintain his own family.

"He would have realised how it feels to lose a child if he had his own children," she told a gathering at the Park Circus Maidan, which is being termed as the Shaheenbagh of Kolkata with women holding a sit-in for the last 53 days to protest the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, proposed nationwide NRC, and the NPR.

The death toll Delhi's communal violence has gone up to 42.

She said it is not biryani that has attracted women to the protest at Shaheen bagh while holding that such vilification campaigns will have no effect on the agitation.

State BJP president Dilip Ghosh has claimed that "uneducated men and women" are protesting at Delhi's Shaheen Bagh and Kolkata's Park Circus as they get money and biryani purchased with foreign funds.

"Home Minister Amit Shah has called 20 protesters to meet him, but I want to tell him that we are one lakh and I want him to mention the place where he wants us to go for the meeting," she said.

Tushar Gandhi said, "People should stay united and not give in to any provocation," he said.

Gandhi said that the people of West Bengal are lucky to have Mamata Banerjee as their chief minister.

"They will try to break her also and it is necessary that you continue to give her support," he said.

Gandhi claimed that no one can harm a country where its mothers and sisters come out to save it.

He claimed that the CAA is not about Hindus or Muslims, but will really affect the poor people, who will be made to run around to get their papers instead of earning for their basic and daily needs.

"It's a dichotomous government that we have at the Centre. On the one hand, they want us to provide documents to prove our citizenship, while on the other they refuse to accept the papers that one produces before it for the purpose," he said.

He claimed that the government is forcing its people to resort to lies and declare that they are political refugees from countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Gandhi claimed that time and again documents with the government like electoral rolls and land documents have been used to identify people of certain communities during riots.

"So it is dangerous to give too much information to the government," he said.

He called on the people to have faith in non-violence and asked them to maintain peace and harmony.

B R Ambedkar's great-grandson Rajratna Ambedkar claimed that it is the Adivasis who will also be affected by the CAA.

"I want to tell Modi and Shah that the country runs on the Constitution by Ambedkar and not M S Golwalkar (of RSS)," he said, adding that because of the rights conferred on people by the Constitution, those backward people who did not have the right to sit on a bullock cart are now flying jet planes.

He said that Modi and Shah committed an error by enacting the CAA as it has turned the people of the country into Indians only, instead of Hindus, Muslims, Christians or Sikhs.

"Every machinery of the country has been taken control of by the RSS. If one Modi or one Shah goes, they will bring in several more Modi or Shah," he said.

New Delhi, Jan 17: Airports in Srinagar and Jammu are to be “immediately” brought under the security cover of the CISF in view of the arrest of DSP Davinder Singh, a Jammu and Kashmir government order has said.

The two sensitive airports are to be “handed over” to the CISF by January 31, the order of the Jammu and Kashmir Home Department to the Director General of Police (DGP) said.

“This issue (CISF security at Srinagar and Jammu airports) has acquired immediacy in view of the recent developments relating to the arrest of Davinder Singh, DSP airport security, for trying to assist militants to travel to other parts of the country,” the order issued on Wednesday said.

Police had arrested Singh, a deputy superintendent of police, at Mir Bazar in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday, along with Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists Naveed Baba and Altaf, besides a lawyer who was operating as an overground worker for terror outfits.

The two airports are guarded by the CRPF and the J-K Police at present.

The Union government had last year decided that the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will be handed over security of these two airports along with the one in Leh in view of their sensitive and strategic location and the threats it faced related to possible terrorist and hijack attempts.

CISF is the national civil aviation security force and at present it guards 61 airports including the ones at Delhi and Mumbai.

News agency had on January 13 reported that the Union home ministry sanctioned about 800 personnel to the CISF in order to take over security duties at the three airports of the newly created Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

As per the original plan, the CISF was to take over Jammu airport by next month and the Srinagar and Leh airports after the spell of severe cold ends.

However, officials said, keeping in mind the arrest of the DSP and his alleged links, the latest order has been issued which also directs the J-K Police to make arrangements for accommodation, transport and other logistical requirements of the armed contingent of the CISF on a quick basis.

Once inducted at the most-sensitive Srinagar airport, the CISF will secure access control at both city and air side (tarmac area) while the CRPF will be responsible for securing the outer periphery. At the Jammu airport, the peripheral security duties will be rendered by the JK Police.

An assortment of surveillance and security gadgets like CCTVs, observation monitors, hand-held metal detectors, bullet-proof patrol vehicles and bomb detection and disposal equipment are also being provided by the airport operator, the Airports Authority of India (AAI), to the CISF.

The Union government sometime back made it clear that CISF will be the only civil airports guarding force and all such facilities in the country will be gradually brought under its command to bolster aviation security and tighten anti-terror and anti-hijack protocols.
