Mysuru, Oct 19: Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday strongly observed reservation against assurance of release of water to Maharasthra by Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddiyurappa and termed it an election gimmick.
Speaking to media here, Mr Kumaraswamy said that last year, when north Karnataka was facing an acute shortage of water, they had requested Maharasthra government several times to release water, but they did not even give a drop. "This is nothing more than an election gimmick," he alleged.
Referring to security condition of the state, he said, "When my father H D Devegowda was Prime Minister there was no news of any terror activities or communal riots". But why is it happening now, he questioned.
