B A Mohideen’s demise: Condolences pour in from political leaders

Bengaluru, Jul 10: Condolences from various leaders poured in as soon as the news of the demise of former minister B A Mohideen spread. He was recognised for his services by the Karnataka Government by conferring the Devaraj Urs Award in 2016.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah joined other State leaders in recalling the services of late Mohideen, who was a close associate of late Chief Minister D Devaraj Urs.

Kumaraswamy said, in Mohideen’s demise the state had lost a veteran leader and offered his condolences to the bereaved family. CM prayed to Almighty that may his soul rest in peace, his family get strength to endure the loss.

Siddaramaiah, in his condolence message recalled that Mohideen was one of his trustworthy, honest and close friends. “As higher education minister, his contributions are praiseworthy,” he said. 

Former chief minister and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, B S Yeddyurappa said that the demise of former minister is a great loss to the entire society. 

“He was not only an influential leader from coastal belt, but also was an honest politician in the state. His contributions as a minister and MLA will always be remembered. May his soul rest in peace,” said Yeddyurappa.

Bengaluru, Feb 16: The Central Crime Branch has recovered blank firearms from Saddaguntepalya Police Station limits.

As of now, two persons have been arrested in this regard. They have been identified as Mohd Junaid and Mohd Tabrez. The officials have recovered 28 blank firearms and 76 blank bullets.

"The two accused -- without having any license -- were in possession of these huge number of weapons," Sandeep Patil, Joint CP, Crime, told media.

As per the preliminary investigation, there has been no record of such cases in Bengaluru. "But we are verifying if other states have any (such) case," added the Joint CP

According to investigations, it was noted that the weapons were purchased from Mumbai at an estimated cost of Rs 1 lakh per weapon.

Further investigation is currently underway.

Bengaluru, Jul 3: Karnataka Health Department on Thursday permitted District Health Departments to appoint doctors with MBBS, on a contractual basis with permission of concerned District Health Officers and Commissioners, a statement said.

The state government has also hiked the salary of contractual doctors from Rs 45000 to Rs 60000 per month.

Earlier in the day, Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu urged contract doctors to continue offering their services amid their demand for regularisation of services.

"I request the contract doctors with folded hands to continue offering their services. With regard to their two demands, one of salary hike and the other being permanency, I assure all of them that I stand with them and their requests will definitely be fulfilled," said Mr Sriramulu.

The Chief Minister had also discussed about the two issues yesterday and agreed to facilitate the pay hike, he added.

Kasaragod, Jan 3: A serving officer of the Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB) was found dead inside his car in Bekal town near here early on Friday.

Police sources said the officer, Rijo Francis (35) has been under treatment after he had an heart attack last year.

Police suspect that the death could be due to heart failure.
