Baahubali 2 box-office collection day 14: SS Rajamouli's film grosses Rs 1200 crore

May 11, 2017

New Delhi, May 11: There is simply no stopping the Baahubali 2 express. After crossing the hallowed Rs 1000-crore mark at the global box office, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has now grossed Rs 1,200 crore at the box office worldwide.

Directed by SS Rajamouli, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has been made on a budget of Rs 250 crore. It is a sequel to the 2015 blockbuster Baahubali: The Beginning. Actors Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishnan and Sathyaraj have reprised their roles from the original film in the sequel.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has earned more than Rs 100 crore in US theatres alone making it the first Indian film to do so.

Meanwhile, Dangal is breaking records at the Chinese box office. The Aamir Khan-starrer has been released in China and in the first six days since its release, the film has grossed Rs 889.75 crore. Dangal is expected to reach at least Rs 950 crore. However, the Baahubali 2 box-office express is still way too ahead of Dangal for the latter to pose any serious threat to SS Rajamouli's epic.

Both the Baahubali films have been made on a collective budget of Rs 430 crore. This makes the Baahubali saga the second most expensive film project in India after Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar-starrer 2.0.

It remains to be seen whether upcoming blockbuster titles in 2017 and 2018 can threaten or even topple Baahubali 2's box-office records. First up, there's the Salman Khan-starrers Tubelight followed by Tiger Zinda Hai. Then there's Aamir Khan's Thugs of Hindostan. And finally, 2.0.
