Bachchan to host segment on girl child campaign at NDA's 2nd anniv event

Mumbai, May 27: Amid a row over Amitabh Bachchan's participation in second anniversary celebrations of NDA government in Delhi tomorrow, the megastar today said he will be hosting a small segment regarding 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign during the programme.amitabh-bachchan

When asked about being targeted by the Congress for "hosting" the event, Bachchan said, "I said what I had to, I think media has carried it as well. I have been invited to host a small segment for the programme. I am attached to a campaign called 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao', that is the segment I am hosting. The actual show is hosted by Madhavan I am not hosting the show.

"I am just hosting a small segment that is along with something else that I am doing for the United Nations. I am United Nations ambassador for Girl Child mission. So I will be talking about that," the actor said.

A row had earlier erupted over Bachchan's participation in the second anniversary celebrations of NDA government with Congress targeting him and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the light of the megastar's name figuring in Panama Papers expose.

When asked how he deals with criticism, Bachchan said, "I think no person is perfect. Aur mein inn logo ka swagat karta hoon. I think everybody has the right to express themselves. Social media has given everyone the opportunity to have a voice to be heard not just by himself but millions of people. I think it is wonderful."

"Jo nakaratmak baatein karte hai main unka swagat karta hoon. Kyunki kai baar jo woh bolte hai woh sunna chahiye, as we are not perfect human being, hum sab mein khamiya hai. I never block or delete these people," the 73-year-old actor said.

The "Piku" star says he tries to tell people not to use abusive language.

"But those who abusive language I tell them there was no need to use this kind of language. If they improve, good, if not, then (I do) not listen to it. Ek maa kala tika lagati hai bache pe nazar utarne ke liye main inn sabko apna nazar batu samajhta hoon," he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and most of his ministerial colleague are expected to attend the event at India Gate tomorrow, where Amitabh will also host a small segment of the programme, to mark the government's second anniversary.

The government is organising the event-- 'Zara Muskura Do' (Smile Please)-- which will have several performances and programmes highlighting its "achievements".

The show will be beamed across the country by Doordarshan

Mumbai, Mar 16: In the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, all filmmaking and producing bodies have unanimously decided to stop shooting for all kinds of entertainment formats temporarily.

A notification unanimously issued by the Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association, Federation of Western India Cine Employees and other similar bodies have ordered that shooting for films, TV shows, digital and other kinds of entertainment format will have to remain suspended between March 19 to 31.

The notification reads: "In view of the epidemic spread of COVID-19 throughout the world including India, an urgent joint meeting of IMPPA- WIPFA-IFTPC-IFTDA-FWICE held on 15-3-2020 unanimously decided to stop shooting of films, TV serials, web series and all other entertainment, including digital formats from 19-3-2020 till 31-3-2020 as a result of health advisory, closure of all cinema halls, all sporting, educational institutes and entertainment events by the Government of India which has declared a medical emergency over the coronavirus. We appreciate and support all the steps taken by the Government of India to control the virus."

"All units shooting till the stoppage comes into force have been strictly advised to follow all precautionary and preventive measures without fail."

"Decision about re-starting shootings shall be taken on 30-3-2020 after considering the prevailing situation."

It was reported only yesterday that superstar Salman Khan is continuing shooting in the city for his upcoming flick 'Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai' even though the makers insist they are strictly adhering to the safety norms of World Health Organisation (WHO).

Meanwhile, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan tweeted this morning requesting his fans not to gather outside the gate of his bungalow Jalsa for their weekly meet and suggested them to stay safe.

New Delhi, May 29: Actor Pooja Hegde revealed that her Instagram account was hacked after unflattering memes about her colleague Samantha Ruth Prabhu were shared.

Samantha's angry fans are not buying her explanation and it has prompted a Twitter trend #PoojaMustApologizeSamantha.

On Monday night, Pooja put out a tweet that her Instagram had been hacked and was in the process of being retrieved. She urged her fans to not accept any invitations or pass out any personal information to the person asking.

She wrote, "Hi guys, so I've been informed by my team that my insta account has been hacked and my digital team is helping me with it. Please do not accept any invitations or pass out any personal information out to the person asking. Thank you."

An hour later, which she spent "stressing," the 'Mohenjodaro' star tweeted again to say the account was restored and that all activity in the while it had been hacked would be undone.

"Spent the last hour stressing about the safety of my Instagram account. Thanking my technical team for instant help at this hour. Finally, got my hands back on my Instagram Any message, follow back or post in d past hour from my account has been done will be undone. Ty," tweeted Hegde.

The 29-year-old actor announced that her feed has been cleaned up now. Her most recent Instagram post is now one on pet food that she posted three days ago.

In Pooja's tweets, there is no mention of Samantha.

According to the screenshots that are being circulated over social media, a meme of Samantha was posted from Pooja's account. It read, "I don't find her pretty at all."

This tweet has triggered Samantha's fans who have not been pacified by her explanation and are demanding that Pooja apologise, meanwhile Pooja's fans say she has nothing to apologise for.

Washington D.C., Jun 7: South Korean pop band BTS and their record label Big Hit Entertainment have donated USD one million to support Black Lives Matter.

According to Variety, the donation was transferred earlier this week, with Black Lives Matter confirming receipt to the label on Friday.

"Black people all over the world are in pain at this moment from the trauma of centuries of oppression. We are moved by the generosity of BTS and allies all over the world who stand in solidarity in the fight for Black lives," the outlet quoted Kailee Scales, managing director for Black Lives Matter as saying.

The widely lauded band, earlier on Wednesday, took to Twitter to show their solidarity with the people fighting against the social injustice.

"We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together," the tweet read.

The pledge of the donation from the Korean boy band and its label comes during a time when people and celebrities from the industry have come forward to demonstrate their support for the black community.

Several big names from the music and acting industry also observed 'Blackout Tuesday' earlier the week as a message of solidarity in response o the death of George Floyd, an African-American man in the United States.
