Baliga murder: Photographer Manujanth arrested for harbouring NaMo Naresh

Mangaluru, May 29: The Manglauru police have arrested another accused in connection with the cold blooded murder of an RTI activist, who had taken on a temple and builders. This is the fifth arrest in connection with the case.

1manjunathK Manujanth Shenoy, alias Manju Neereshwalya, (39) was arrested on Sunday on the charge of harbouring Naresh Shenoy, the prime accused in the same case. He is photographer by profession.

Naresh Shenoy, the founder of local unit of NaMo Brigade, has been absconding since the murder of 51-year-old RTI activist Vinayak Baliga.

In a press note, the police said that Manju Neereshwalya was in constant touch with Naresh Shenoy, whom the police wanted to question in connection with the murder.

The police said that Manju Neereshwalya was informing Naresh Shenoy of the developments in the case and helping him hide.

Vinayak Baliga was hacked to death near his house in Kodialbail on March 21. The police have arrested Vineet Poojary, Nishit Devadiga, Shiva, alias Shivaprasad, and Shailesh (40).

The police said that they are still looking for Naresh Shenoy.

Bengaluru, Jul 12: KCTET 2020: Attention candidates, the Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister has confirmed the exam dates for Karnataka Common Entrance Test, KCET 2020.

As per information, KCET 2020 will be held between July 30 and July 31.

Karnataka Common Entrance Test or KCET is an examination which is held for admission to BTech courses in the state’s institutes.

The Higher Education Minister C N Ashwathnarayan, took to twitter to confirm the KCET dates. The Minister tweeted:

“The K-CET 2020 examinations will be held on the decided dates of July 30 & July 31. All the best to all the students!”

Details regarding KCET exam centers, time, and schedule will be mentioned in the admit card. Candidates can download their admit card fro the official website of KEA i.e. cetonline.karnataka.gov.in.

KCET 2020 was earlier scheduled to be held from April 22 to April 24, 2020, however, due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, KEA postponed KCET 2020 exams.

Mangaluru, May 8: Migrant workers, stranded in Karnataka due to lockdown, staged a protest on Friday at the Central Railway Station here, demanding to be sent back to their respective native places.

The workers demanded the state government to take measures and send them back to their homes.

Maintaining social distancing and covering their faces with masks, the workers were holding placards which read -- "We want to go home Jharkhand, We want justice and we want to go home."

They appealed to the state government to arrange trains and buses to ferry them to their native places and threatened to walk home if denied transport.

Several protests have erupted in different parts of the country, such as Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, as stranded labourers took to the roads demanding to be sent back home.

The Ministry of Home Affairs on May 1 had issued an order to extend the ongoing lockdown by two more weeks from May 4 with some relaxations.

Bhatkal, May 9: A day after 12 covid-19 positive cases reported from Bhatkal, seven more tested positive for the coronavirus in the town today. 

The new patients are: a six-month-old baby, a two-and-a half-year-old child, two girls aged 17 and 23, a 50-year-old woman and two elderly men aged 65 and 68 years.

The source of all these cases is said to be the First Neuro hospital located at Padil in Mangaluru where a covid-19 patient from Bantwal had undergone treatment a month ago. Around 20 days ago an 18-year-old girl from Bhatkal, who had been to the same hospital was tested positive for the covid-19. 

After the confirmation of 12 covid-19 positive cases yesterday, the throat swab of 60 people, who were in contact with them were sent for testing. Among them seven people – six relatives and a friend – were tested positive today.
